BEST BET: RACE 6, JUNE TWO FOUR

FIRST RACE

Quarter horses.

SECOND RACE

SIDE STREET DAVE gets class relief, comes in fresh, and ends up in a top barn that is 27% with new runners. Works are sharp while most recent is a bullet drill. Let’s move on then. WAY TOO CUTE won three back when first on this dirt then bounced versus allowance foes (too tough) before finishing second last out at this level. What is wrong with any of that? She adds a half furlong today and will be the better price of the two Silva runners. TOTALLY NORMAL gets some pace to chase and wants to pass runners. What if she just loves it here? We think she can handle the dirt but is six furlongs a tad short? If the 1, 3, 4, and 6 all gun then perhaps not. WARREN’S VAN GOGH exits a key race where 2 of 2 returned to win with figs of 48 and 49.

THIRD RACE

BAKTOHERTRICKS beat special weights at Cby and that is no small feat. In fact, both of her grass starts there were solid. She came here in her previous start and ran well even though she was cutting back to a dirt sprint. She should be all set to resume turf racing. WICKED WINNINGS ran evenly two back but she was trying two turns and the turf for the first time and did so off a layoff. This gelding did cost 57K. Form cycle hints at better and her turf breeding is solid. TENACIOUS MOON just won on this sod and for a good barn. We think there is more speed in this race than prior though. The Silva barn is 24% with horses that won their previous start. SPACE PRINCESS is by a 0 for 1 debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Lone sib missed the board in only turf start.

FOURTH RACE

TRINNI never got a breather off the layoff so there is your excuse. Plus the layoff thing. Those starts 2 and 4 back fit here. What if the time off is the key? Notice that connections find a spot where this mare can’t be claimed. SLEIGH RIDE has some

speed but can stalk if needed. She has missed the exacta on this dirt only once in seven starts. If looking for a knock then maybe five furlongs is a bit short. OLD TOY is often a good price, draws the rail, is versatile, and is in good form.

FIFTH RACE

PACIFIC WAR ran well three and four back but then got into trouble in his last two. The layoff is the X factor. New barn doesn’t have many runners but what they have fires. The blinkers go ON and we like that for a shortened sprint. Martinez has ridden all of this barn’s runners (3 for 4). SKY GLORY goes second time this dirt and has passed a runner before. We think today’s pace is hot. BLACKDENIMTROUSERS ran between foes last out at almost 10-1 and was right there at the finish. We like that effort. Does the rail draw force a front end try? We think this gelding can stalk.

SIXTH RACE

JUNE TWO FOUR just won for fun while first out for this barn which is fine and all. Do connections take some time to find this gelding another race? Nope, they wheel him right back in six days and find a spot where this guy can’t be claimed. Nice. This barn is 26% with this move. PLAYOFF BOUND got a 79 Beyer the last time he raced on this dirt. It came at today’s distance. Bullet work is noted. ROCKANDAHARDPLACE is feeling good. We like how he switched surface and won last out. Race flow is fine if all stay in.

SEVENTH RACE

SAMURAI JACK drops in class and is proven around two turns. Second time with this jock can’t hurt. This gelding has some tactical speed to help with trip/post. A recent work is noted. IRON BELL might be a price. That mile win three back hints at local ability. First time winners plus an elongated sprint is the excuse two back. His most recent was OK as he beat over half the field home. Jock switch to Cruz is noted. SINK THE BISMARCK keeps disapointing us. We just can’t shake those Cby tries 7 and 8 back. One more time but if we don’t see a better try then we will have to abandon ship.

EIGHTH RACE

TOO AWESOME is bred to like the turf while his lone grass start is better than it looks. This gelding has a string of longer works to have him ready for this. We like that connections want turf for return. A good price to round out the appeal. PURELY POLITICAL got solid Beyers on this grass 2 and 3 back. He was washed off the green previously but still ran well. This barn is 21% on the sod. LUCKY LUKIE goes for Diodoro and is bred to like the grass. Yet to actually win on the grass though. This gelding might show some speed in this spot. I’LL TAKE YOU OUT is by a 0 for 15 debut turf sire. His dam went 15-3-0-2 and earned 130K on the weeds. Three turf sibs failed to hit the board on the sod.
