BEST BET: RACE 2, R BOY EVENS

FIRST RACE

The card Friday features 3-year-old fillies sprinting on turf, while there are also a pair of races for 2-year-olds. The first juvenile race goes as the opener, with ACTING LUCKY getting the nod after running second in her debut. It was a promising start to her career and the race gives her experience on a number of these. HARA showed excellent speed in her debut and would seem to have reason to move forward for the experience of an out. DANNYHILL was third last out in same race as top choice. The dam of TANTALIZING GAL was a Florida Stallion Stakes star who ran out $341K.

SECOND RACE

R BOY EVENS was favored against steeper last out and the race was his first in more than two and a half months. He can be closer to the pace than he was that afternoon. SLICK STAR ran well on the cutback in distance last time and could be even sharper here, in his second straight sprint start. CONGRATS THAT has stepped up his game since he began sprinting on turf on a regular basis. He owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure.

THIRD RACE

FIRST NAVY ADMIRAL split the field in his debut last out and note the third-place finisher from the race came back in his next start to win a maiden special weight at Gulfstream. As for FIRST NAVY ADMIRAL, he is by a stallion who is getting 17 percent 2-year-old winners. MIDNIGHT TRAVELER brings good racing experience to the table and showed speed in both of his starts. He, too, is by a stallion getting 17 percent 2-year-old winners. TURPIAL gets off the fence after breaking from the rail in his debut. He also adds blinkers. He is by a stallion who is getting 12 percent 2-year-old winners.

FOURTH RACE

R NINJA J K was favored in his career debut and finished second to earn what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. He has an age edge on all of these as he is 4. U S S COLTON showed good speed on the turnback in distance last out and looks like a major player in this spot. MIGHTY FAST had a less than ideal trip last time. He could get an ideal setup this time, stalking BRIDOLOGIST, R NINJA J K and U S S COLTON.

FIFTH RACE

LOOKIN AT ROSES should be sharp for the mile and a sixteenth off the mile race in which he was just edged. For his effort he earned what ranks as this field’s best last-race turf Beyer Figure. VINCITORE picks up more ground here with the move to a mile and a sixteenth and his maiden win came at this trip. EXTRA EXTRA figures to benefit if his race stays on the grass this time around as his maiden win came on the turf.

SIXTH RACE

MY POINT EXACTLY ran his race last time despite the wet track and suspect he would be best served if his race stays on the grass this time around as he’s had the bulk of his success on the green. He returns to the Florida-bred ranks for the first time in several starts and when he last lined up against such foes he was a winner. AMBASSADOR JIM is another getting back with statebreds and the last time he faced such foes - in November 2018 - he was a winner. He’s a class play for the company he has been keeping. SUBLIME APPEAL was fifth last out in a key race. The sixth-place finisher, Counter Offer, came back in his next start to account for an N1X at CD with a Beyer of 85 and the seventh-place finisher, Surf Shack, a $20K claimer at GP, with a Beyer of 74.

SEVENTH RACE

R UNCLE ERIC, who debuted last out at the age of 4, was an odds on favorite. He showed good speed and has reason to move forward for the experience of an out. GIROLAMO’S ATTACK is a May foal who also showed speed in his career debut last out. He owns what ranks as this field’s best career Beyer Figure. HARPER - like R UNCLE ERIC - makes the meaningful move to the maiden claiming ranks for the first time. Another of interest is DOUBLE ADVANTAGE.

EIGHTH RACE

POSEIDON’S PASSION and SWIRLING CANDY are both appealing as three-time winners facing some less-experienced rivals. May foal POSEIDON’S PASSION was going for four in a row last out when she had some notable trouble, according to her running line. She has had success from both on and off the pace and is from a mare who won 11 races. February foal SWIRLING CANDY defeated top choice last out and the Beyer Speed Figure of 76 that she earned is the best career number in this field. She looks like the one these will have to catch, with the main pace threat POSEIDON’S PASSION. The latter draws well, to the outside of SWIRLING CANDY. TONY’S ROSE was second last out to SWIRLING CANDY and the start was her first since August. She would seem to have reason to move forward. TONY’S ROSE is from a stakeswinning mare who ran out $137K.

NINTH RACE

APACHE BRAVE caught good turf last time and might be better served with firm ground, the footing of his best recent turf races. He also removes blinkers here after adding them for his most recent start. GOOD BYE GREG was beaten just a length for everything last out in his first start since October and would seem to have reason to move forward in his second race back. He also moves into the statebred ranks for the first time on current form. CRYOGENIC returns to the turf sprint game and his best recent efforts have come under such “conditions.” He is from a multiple stakes-placed mare who won 5 races and earned $188K.
