BEST BET: RACE 4, BIG MAMBA

FIRST RACE

ENHANCED FINANCE shook loose on the early lead before fading to fourth when coming off the bench against $10K maidens. She’s meeting much easier in this shorter $7.5K dash that was split, with the others going into the longer third race. The consistent 5yo FLAT OUT FABULOUS is a must-use underneath in the exotics, in her second start off the sidelines. DON’T SMILE LILAH came from off a fast pace for third in her comeback in a slow $15K tilt.

SECOND RACE

HELLO ANNIE wintered at Tampa, where she capped her 2019 campaign with back-to-back runaway scores last winter before heading to the sidelines. She’s been working fast, and could be the controlling speed in this $15K NW3 contest. SIMPLY MYSTERIOUS tracked a pokey pace Nov. 30 en route to ending up second with a career high 68 Beyer, which is the Beyer par for this level. SUPER CHOCOLATE figures to regress off her gutsy comeback score vs. NW2 opposition.

THIRD RACE

FINE LADY broke awkwardly from the outside post before passing some rivals when sixth while going five-eighths two weeks ago. She should be more prominent in this six-furlong event, in her second start off a 10-month break. SPEEDY RUNNER, who was winter-raced on the dirt at Tampa without any success, is a wild card with Bahen taking over. Professional maiden CHEETAHRA rarely runs a bad one, and figures to round out one of the gimmicks.

FOURTH RACE

BIG MAMBA made a bid into contention at the top of the stretch before flattening out to third when returning to action in an identical spot. She had lots of speed to chase here and could be along in time. PURPLE SCOOTER dominated $25K maidens with a 66 Beyer before galloping out strongly in just her second race on opening day. She’s drawn outside the other speed, and could assume an early stalking position before making a move. NO QUESTION faded from a stalking position to finish fourth behind the top pick when returning from a four-month layoff June 11.

FIFTH RACE

NORTHERN CRUSADER earned a good 72 Beyer when crushing $7.5K maidens in his final 3yo excursion on the Tapeta Dec. 6. He could wire this field if he takes to the turf. FRAC ATTACK is questionable over the five-furlong distance, but he’s taking an excellent turf pedigree into this experiment. The son of Frac Daddy is a half-brother to G3 turf stakes winner Summer Doldrums and the useful grasser Best Actor. SILENCIUM is by the country’s top turf sire, Silent Name. Blinkers are added by Tiller, who could dominate the second half of this card.

SIXTH RACE

RECONFIGURE flattened out to fourth behind two of his current rivals in his five-furlong season opener on the Tapeta. The hard knocker is switching to his preferred grass surface, on which he’s 4 for 8. He was also a narrow loser of the G2 Nearctic. REAL MONEY is exiting a fade job in a tough optional claimer at Churchill, which came on the heels of a first-level allowance victory at Gulfstream. SOUPER SUCCESS defeated RECONFIGURE when a front-running second in his comeback. He’s also at his best on the lawn.

SEVENTH RACE

PINK LLOYD is trying to win this G3 stakes for the fourth year in a row. He broke Woodbine’s six-furlong synthetic track record when taking the 2018 running with a 106 Beyer under Hernandez. The popular 8yo is seeking his 20th stakes victory, and he always fires when fresh. NOT SO QUIET, the lone supplement in the field, could take this field a long way on the lead if he improves on his gutsy comeback score in a second-level optional claimer. DIXIE’S GAMBLE rode an inside bias to a fourth behind Pink Lloyd and the good next-out winner Extravagant Kid the last time he saw action in the G2 Kennedy Road in November.

EIGHTH RACE

SPRING EDITION landed on the edges in his comeback against NW3 OS/$40K rivals, which should set him up nicely for this lesser event. He could mow down all the speed as a longshot. BUTTERMILK PIKE led all the way for a seven-length tally at the bottom NW2 level on opening day, when he earned a fat 90 Beyer. Speedy Maximum Perfection might soften him up on the front end this time, but he could still have a say in the outcome. DUKE OF MIAMI could pick up some of the pieces in his first start since he ran wide and not very well over an inside-biased track Dec. 15. LYRICAL NOTE is worth considering for the exotics.
