BEST BET: RACE 7, DIAMOND DIVA

FIRST RACE

SPRING STEEN loves this dirt and has yet to lose on it in two starts. The layoff is short and she was feeling great just before it so no problems there. Connections find a logical spot while July 2nd work looks just right. JANET’S MAE has been a win machine since breaking her maiden in Arizona. Works are well spaced and her regular rider gets a leg up. If the 5 could press the rail runner then her chances would improve. BEST KEPT SECRET is a hard trier that gets in light and might get lost on the tote.

SECOND RACE

EL TIZAR tried the turf for the first time last out and ran evenly while pushing the pace all the way. He is bred to love the green with his 347 grass Tomlinson. His form cycle hints at better as does second time on the grass. He even draws well and all at 9/2 on the morning line (we’d take half that). STITZY is a proven turf runner on this sod that draws well and is in good form. Here is another that is bred to love the grass so further grass improvement is more likely than not. OVERLY LUCKY just missed in his most recent even though he was trying two turns and the turf for the first time. Maybe he is a new turf horse before everyone knows it. ZOE’S DELIGHT is by a 11% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced. Both sibs failed to win on the green but one did hit the board.

THIRD RACE

BIG SPORT might trip out best as the 1, 3, and 5 all have some speed. He draws the attack post today and goes third off the layoff. Added furlong helps and he hasn’t gotten a clean trip since he got here. PEACOCK COWBOY loves this distance. We don’t know what kind of a trip that he is going to get though. He was getting figs in the 60’s and 70’s last summer on this dirt. If we could flip flop posts with our top pick then this gelding would have been our top pick. HERBIE has rail speed. A tough post though. This gelding has never missed the board on this dirt. We liked SINK THE BISMARCK last out but are just unsure when the good races are coming.

FOURTH RACE

MISTER BANJOMAN just ran well on the grass and got a Beyer top in the process. Turf breeding is solid so he could improve here. Other speed is the main worry as there is a lot of it. This gelding won his route debut last summer and did so versus state-bred stakes foes. J. E.’S HANDMEDOWN is by a 6% debut turf sire. His dam was un-raced and this is her first grass foal. IF this gelding likes the grass then he could trip out best as he is proven from off the pace. UNCLE GOYLE draws the rail and is one of many to have speed. What if the other pace runners let him go early? Current form is sharp but added distance is the X factor. NORTHCUT is by a 10% debut turf sire. His dam never tried the grass nor did lone sib to this gelding. DAME PLATA is by a 10% debut turf sire. His dam went 3-0-0-1 on the green and earned 5K. Three of six sibs won on the weeds with another hitting the board.

FIFTH RACE

MINNESOTA NICE is by a 12% debut sire. Her dam went 24-3-5-6 and earned 123K (won 2YO debut). Two of three sibs beat winners. This filly cost 41K and that is a lot for around here. SHE GLITTERS has race experience and no one else can say the same. She has speed and Arrieta and that is a good combination. CHARLIES MISSILE is by a new sire. Her dam went 15-2-1-1 and earned 29K (won 2YO debut). Both sibs won including a debut 2YO winner. DANIELLE’S DEAL is by a 11% debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO’s only). Her dam went 17-5-1-3 and earned 121K. Lone sib is 10-2-0-2 and earned 24K. OWEN’S PLEASURE is by a 4% debut sire. Her dam went 7-3-1-0 and earned 85K. One of two sibs won. MOLLY’S ANGEL is by a 6% debut sire. Her dam went 9-0-2-2 and earned 24K. This is her first foal to race. KNIGHT’S HONOR is by a 7% debut sire. Her dam went 21-3-2-1 and earned 50K. This is her first foal to race. THAT WOULD BE NICE is by a 0 for 9 debut sire. Her dam went 16-3-4-2 and earned 66K. Both sibs have yet to win. ICYWILBURNYEH is by a 7% debut sire. Her dam was un-raced and this is her first foal.

SIXTH RACE

MUSKYMAN is by a 8% debut turf sire. His dam went 9-2-1-1 on the grass and earned 123K. Lone sib is 1-0-0-0 on the green. This gelding didn’t do much in his debut but he was stuck on the rail where he broke 6th. He got race experience and that is what matters most. We think he will improve going two turns on the green. WHERE’D THE DAY GO ran well on this sod last summer and did so in a tough spot. He wanted the grass in his second start but got washed off. MR. D’S LEGEND is by a 0 for 7 debut turf sire. His dam never tried the green. One of four sibs won on the weeds with another hitting the board. Current form is good and he has tactical speed all while third in current form cycle. MINNEAPOLISMIRACLE is by a 9% debut turf sire. His dam went 7-1-1-2 on the green for 29K. Lone sib never tried the grass. DEVIL VISION is by a 10% debut sire and a 7% debut turf sire. His dam went 40-10-7-2 and earned 237K (2-0-0-0 on the green). All 3 sibs won but zero tried the sod. BUBBA BOB is by a 6% debut turf sire. His dam never tried the green. One of three sibs won on the grass with another hitting the board. CARAMEL ANGEL is by a 11% debut turf sire. His dam went 12-2-0-4 on the green and won 52K (won grass debut). This is her first foal to try the grass.

SEVENTH RACE

DIAMOND DIVA catches a race with no speed. This filly broke her maiden wire to wire at Sam Houston. The leading rider gets a leg up and we say the front end is wanted and wanted bad. Wire please. OAKLIE GAL just won for the second time on this dirt and keeps Arrieta who is chasing Eikleberry for top jock honors. Lack of speed hurts most. DUSTY PRINCESS did beat half the field home in her return try. They were mostly on the grass going long but this mare does have some solid tries last summer and two came on the dirt.

EIGHTH RACE

IMMINENT THREAT is by a 9% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Two of seven sibs won on the grass with another two having hit the board. Second time Mac can only help. NOTE PAD is one of only two with grass experience. She draws well and should improve second time everything. ROSES FOR DOUG might be the value. Class jump helps the price and Arrieta stays put. Beyer top came on the green at Golden Gate. STYLIN N PROFILIN is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Lone sib is 1-0-0-0 on the sod. SWEET ECLIPSE is by a 4% debut turf sire. Her dam went 14-4-6-1 on the green for 93K. Two sibs failed to win on the sod. GOTHAM CITY QUEEN is by a 8% debut turf sire. Her dam was un-raced. Lone sib is 3-1-0-0 on the green for 38K and won grass debut. SPEEDING PASSION is by a 3% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green and this is her first grass foal. MS KELA TIME is by a 3% debut turf sire. Her dam went 3-0-0-0 on the green. Two sibs failed to hit the board on the sod. TIMEINTHETAVERN is by a 4% debut turf sire. Her dam went 1-0-0-0 on the green. Two sibs failed to win but one hit the board on the sod. LEFT OF CENTER is by a both 9% debut and debut turf sire. Her dam went 13-0-2-5 for 23K (5-0-1-4 on grass, 15K). All 5 sibs won. Three of five won on the sod including two multiple winners and one debut winner.

NINTH RACE

GONE A LIL LU HU was pinched at the start. Lone sib is 24-7-5-3 for 48K. Blinkers and weight break help speed if he has any. GONE CRUISING just ran better and has now improved his figs in two straight. SIR ZEBO draws the attack post. He was getting better last summer.
