BEST BET: RACE 7, GUITAR GEORGE

FIRST RACE

FIONA BAY went four-wide on the turn before finishing on her left lead when seventh at just under 3-1 at first asking vs. OS/$40K maidens July 25. The full-sister to the stakes-placed router Oakton should be more prominent in this longer $25K sprint. JILL is another second-out dropper who’s eligible to wake up, as she adds blinkers and Lasix to her arsenal. SLASHS RED DIAMOND missed the break before closing inside for third in her improved second start at this $25K price.

SECOND RACE

SHOW SOME SKIN has been sidelined since checking in second as the favorite in a $25K dash Dec. 7. Her trainer has excellent numbers with six-monthplus comebackers, and this one has a mixture of fast and slow works. CAPTURE THE MOMENT came very wide from the back of the pack to end up third in her best race so far at this level on the turf Aug. 9. SOUPER CAPACITY is by the solid speed/debut sire Souper Speedy. Her dam produced the stakeswinning sprinters Anywhere and Line of Best Fit.

THIRD RACE

DEVINE DANCING posted two sub 1:00 works for five furlongs in August, before an easy half-mile breeze last Friday. The daughter of 14% 2yo debut sire Silent Name gets Hernandez, and he’s 8 for 26 at the meet for trainer Kevin Attard. MUSICALLY INCLINED is by the 18% juvenile debit sire Maclean’s Music, who romped in his only race early in his sophomore season. A. A. TZARINA would win this 5 1/2-furlong maiden special on pedigree, but the daughter of Curlin and Woodbine Oaks winner Academic is bred to run long.

FOURTH RACE

BEAR KITTY has had a break of nearly two months since taking her season opener in a shorter sprint at this $10K level. She’s worked thrice since early August, and obviously enjoys some space between her engagements. SO THATS THE WAY IT IS is moving up off the McKnight claim after trouncing $7.5K NW3 opposition going long in

her second start off the bench. MODUS OPERANDI overcame a sluggish beginning to just miss at a notch lower a month ago, and has improved with each subsequent start at the meet.

FIFTH RACE

GAMBLE’S SILVER was bumped at the break before taking the long way home from well back to finish fourth when debuting in a shorter sprint July 25. The Dalos homebred has worked thrice since and shouldn’t mind moving out to three-quarters. HIGH SOCIETY GIRL is dropping from open maiden special company to meet OS/$40K maidens, while stretching out a furlong. SUNSPRITE is by the leading Ontario freshman sire Reload, who’s 3 for 8 with first-timers. VERY SAVVY is also by a highpercentage 2yo first-out sire.

SIXTH RACE

AUNT TILLIE wasn’t all that far back in seventh in her June 28 seasonal bow in an N1X turf sprint on the inner turf. She’s worked bullets on the training track leading up to this NW2 OS/$40K tilt on the main turf and retains Fukumoto, who’s 3 for 11 at the meet for Patton. TOO MANY MOUNTANS ran evenly for fourth in her first try outside the maiden ranks in a similar spot Aug. 15. This will be her third start in just over a month. MISS BOBBIT figures to be a speed threat, and THE GOOD WITCH is coming off an overdue maiden victory.

SEVENTH RACE

GUITAR GEORGE came from off slow fractions for fifth behind the likes of the classy stakes winners Gigantic Breeze and Glenville Gardens in a recent $40K event. The steady veteran is meeting much easier in this $25K route, in which he appears to have ample speed to chase. FLORIDA WON wound up second in both of his races at the meet, in a pair of 7 1/2-furlong inner turf events. His Tapeta form was spotty last fall, but he should be prominent with Hernandez retaining the mount. FRANKIE BARONE is descending from N1X allowance company for his third start back, and wouldn’t be much of a surprise with Stein inheriting the mount from Hernandez.

EIGHTH RACE

PIQUET pressed the pace before flattening out to third last time against NW3 OS/$40K rivals around two turns on the inner turf. She’s getting some significant class relief for her fourth try off the bench, and could be on the brink of a breakthrough. SAILING BY is coming off an improved second at a notch lower in her debut off a claim.

She could take this field a long way on the lead. POST TO POST is dropping to a new low off a chalky fourth where she was well off a slow pace. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with CAROLINA GRACE.
