BEST BET: RACE 5, EXCELLORATOR

FIRST RACE

DELIGHTFUL DREAMER is dropping from $25K to a winning situation in this $15K turf route on the inner course. Her trainer’s turf runners have been on a serious roll of late. SCREEN DIVA recently found a home in the lower ranks on the lawn under leading rider Stein. NATURAL HABITAT is adding blinkers off a claim.

SECOND RACE

TOO MANY MOUNTANS finished on the edges in both of her starts vs. NW2 OS/$40K rivals, and is dropping to a logical spot in this $25K NW2 tilt. PURPLE SCOOTER ran to her good turf breeding when losing her turf debut by a neck after leading the way in her second try off a claim Sept. 11. LET’S HAVE FUN is cheapening up on short rest off a flat fifth on the Tapeta.

THIRD RACE

PRESSURE FRONT lacked room along the inside on the turn before finishing a close sixth for $10K in her latest on the grass. She should have these $5K maidens on the Tapeta within her sights. LAURENDALE is a wild card following a four-year layoff in her first start for trainer Liz Elder. RING IN SILENCE, a beaten favorite in her last two outings, is a must-use underneath in the gimmicks.

FOURTH RACE

LORD WIMBORNE closed from the back of the pack to finish a half-length in arrears in second when descending to this $25K NW3 class nearly six weeks ago. The Irish import has worked twice since and should take some beating with Hernandez back in the saddle. KITTEN’S BOY came up empty in the second leg of the Woodbine Turf Endurance Series after checking in third behind the top pick Aug. 16. KING CAUSEWAY came from off a lively pace to beat NW2 stock in a route taken off the turf Aug. 23.

FIFTH RACE

EXCELLORATOR earned a solid 70 Beyer last out when a front-running second as the favorite in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special. The inexpensive son of Orb deserves top billing in this seven-furlong maiden special with Hernandez back aboard. LENNY K has posted above-average works since early September. Leading rider Stein and trainer Kevin Attard are a combined 9 for 22 at the meet. AMANOFMYSTATURE is by the wildly popular Into Mischief, who’s sired 16% 2yo debut winners. He cost $150K as a 2yo, which isn’t an exorbitant amount for a son of this phenomenal leading sire.

SIXTH RACE

SYCAMORE RUN finished first in two fast maiden sprints on the dirt over the winter, but was disqualified for a positive test in his debut in the slop at the Fair Grounds. He’s worked well on the Tapeta in advance of his first start for trainer Roger Attfield, and could take some catching in his first grass try in this N1X. FORESTER’S FORTUNE is cutting back to the distance of his close second in the restricted Greenwood Stakes on this course Aug. 1. PRINCE OF THIEVES lacked room before closing to lose a win photo for the second time in a row a month ago.

SEVENTH RACE

MUM’S THE WORD was no match for the future G1 winner Lady Speightspeare when fifth in her seven-furlong debut, after which she romped in a one-mile maiden special. Her outside draw in this OS stakes on the inner turf is a negative, but she might simply be better than the others.

SUNSPRITE prevailed in a front-end battle before drawing clear to graduate at first asking in a fast (70 Beyer) OS/$40K sprint on the Tapeta Sept. 3.

SILENT GUROO wired OS/$40K maidens traveling seven-eighths on the main turf in her improved second race three weeks ago.

EIGHTH RACE

LOOKIN TO STRIKE parlayed a three-wide stalking trip into a decisive score in a quick allowance/ optional claimer on the Tapeta when coming off a seven-month absence three weeks ago. He could strike again if stablemate Real Money softens up the imposing SILENT POET on the front end. The latter bypassed the Woodbine Mile after a fading third in the one-mile prep for that G1 in the G2 King Edward. Turf sprinting is his game, and he shouldn’t be worse than second after going to the lead under Stein. ROSE’S VISION rallied from off a hot pace last time to prevail in a second-level optional claimer that contained two next-out winners.

NINTH RACE

ALL CANADIAN was arguably best last time in the rich Simcoe Stakes, during which he was stuck in traffic along the inside before closing wide for second. He’s going on Lasix, and his freshman sire, Reload, was a G3-winning turf miler. DRAGON’S BREW had clear sailing on the outside when he won the 6 1/2-furlong Simcoe by daylight. His half-brother, Dragon’s Cry, won this stakes when it was a synthetic sprint before he evolved into a useful runner on both surfaces. DE ONLY SOLUTION crushed $25K maidens at first asking on the main track, and is bred for the grass, top and bottom. EXCEED is dropping out of a tough open stakes won by the future G1 victor Gretzky the Great.

TENTH RACE

REVVED UP finished a clear second behind a razor-sharp stablemate, who went coast-to-coast, when returning from a one-year layoff Aug. 23. He should be tough with that tightener under his girth. TIMESKIP rallied from far back to finish a distant third behind the top choice that day in his first try at this level. MAGIC TAPIT should be in the hunt if he fires one of his better shots.

ELEVENTH RACE

BREATHLESSNTHESAND raced wide throughout when sixth in the $250K Simcoe Stakes for graduates of local yearling sales in his encouraging second start. Blinkers and leading rider Stein are added for this OS/$40K maiden event on the inner turf. GALVASTON is going on Lasix after three consecutive runner-up placings. HIATUS is bred for the grass, and is eligible to show more than he did in his opener on the main track. Use MAAKWA in the exotics.
