BEST BET: RACE 2, COMBINATION

FIRST RACE

CAT LADY back in familiar hands off the claim, might get loose and not look back with these. SHADILEE out-finished preferred choice while turning in pretty promising turf bow albeit as a beaten favorite in last. Must prove she can duplicate the effort for new connections. MISS GHISLAINE showed nice improvement with race under her belt but stepping up vs. much better trying winner’s for the first time, also off the claim.

SECOND RACE

COMBINATION stalked but could not catch Northern when the pair met earlier this winter but taken to reverse that decision from stalking position outside. KALU comes off another solid effort when out-gamed to wire 19 days earlier. Another who could trip out off the speed. NORTHERN jumped up with much improved effort second off the claim by current barn before turning in disappointing try as odds on choice several weeks later. A question of which Northern shows up today.

THIRD RACE

CAPTURED BY FATE has been gelded while staying put off claim by present connections. Has the speed to take these gate to wire if able to run clear from Heavenly Blessing. THIS DUDES NO FOOL turned back to more suitable distance while dropping to proper level off the claim, going back to experienced right after having triple bug last out. TOOK A CAB another who figures to appreciate turn back in distance, respecting near bullet drill for this and Paco in the irons.

FOURTH RACE

ALONZO MOSELY hard used on the lead, caught late by MSW dropper Grey Streak in latest but continuing to hold form well. Looks ready to graduate with clean sailing from the rail. CITY MAGIC exits best yet from Beyer standpoint but taking on older foes for the first time here. FIAT LUX the preferred one’s uncouple mate. Steps up, stretches out, looks loose a long ways on the front end in this lineup.

FIFTH RACE

WEISSER adds blinkers after dueling, fading late going 6 1/2 panels last time. Turns back in distance, should sit a nice stalking trip just outside speedy Chill Haze. DR HARLAN like the preferred choice one of only two in here to have won against open $6,250 company in the past, looks like right one should preferred choice falter. FLAWLESS MOON has switched barns since last time when turning in even effort off the layoff in first try with open competition. Should benefit from the outing.

SIXTH RACE

CRAFTY LASS did not fare badly in only previous grass effort and hasn’t missed a beat in the a.m. of late prepping for return. Looks like good fit for this tag. MAJIC FLASH took the worst of the trips among those in here exiting Yellen race, shuffling back, racing very wide into the stretch before showing some late interest. Expect big improvement and at a price if able to get clear run here. COOKIE COVE logical after finishing second returning to the turf last time.

SEVENTH RACE

RASPBERRY BALLET obviously taking a step up in company off the maiden win trying allowance and optional claiming foes but seems to have finally put it together since joining current barn, perhaps good enough to take another in present form. BIMINI beat same kind last time but at 6 1/2 furlongs, must repeat effort at short price on stretch to a mile. TIME TO TWO STEP jumped up with big try showing marked improvement second off the layoff but an in and out type whose last win came over a sloppy track in a weakened off the turf field.

EIGHTH RACE

BLAMELESS just missed behind talented Sayyaaf two back, caught that same one again next time, seems to be facing softer group today. MOROCCO

continues to hold form extremely well, loves the course and in good hands off the claim. Hard to ignore. HIGH NOON RIDER another consistent sort who’ll need some pace help but likely to be running on best of all at the end.

NINTH RACE

T. WALTZ lost best chance when jostled at the break before recovering to turn in credible try in turf bow. May stand some catching if away clean under Jaramillo on drop to this relatively weak group. CHIPS AND SALSA another getting some class relief despite beating 7 of 9 rivals for higher tag last time. One to fear. KAREN’S WAY back to the grass where she had little chance making turf bow two back. Exits best yet, this price, on the main.
