THIRD RACE
Guessing with CAROLINE KRYSTYNA ($50,000 yearling), who was listed as a Charles Town vet scratch on 4/6 when trained by Javier Contreras. She is a half-sister to debut winner High Front (87 Beyer in turf sprint) by 20% first-turf stallion Oscar Performance. The dam won on turf, and is a half to stakes-winning turf performer Entirety (87 Beyer). The third dam was a multiple stakeswinner on turf in Italy. Barn sent out debut winner Dandy Handyman at 22-1 on turf at Colonial last summer. Also want to use WATCH THIS BIRDIE and UP FOR IT in multi-race wagers. The former finished ahead of three next-out winners in lone turf start (the winner returned to run second in Saratoga’s Bolton Landing with an 81 Beyer and is now a Grade 3 winner), and should show positional speed. Up for It, listed as a Gulfstream vet scratch on 3/18, was held up behind a slow pace when second behind odds-on Balletic on 2/18. The fourth-finisher returned to graduate in a Keeneland special weight with a 77 Beyer. TWO SIDES OF LOVE showed big speed against three next-out winners (third-finisher now a multiple stakeswinner) when last seen, but that was almost 600 days ago. Barn is 3 for the last 10 (30%, $2.12 ROI) with horses returning from one-year layoffs or greater. BEE MOUNTAIN got up for second against 1-5 shot Sendero in the Jamestown last year. Should do better back to turf. CAROLINA HIDEAWAY is a half to stakes-placed turf sprinter Carolina Sun (72 Beyer) out of stakes-placed turf sprinter Carolina Shag (91 Beyer). DETERMINED STELLA races “bar shoes off” and is a half to stakes-winning turf miler Louder Than Bombs (96 Beyer). LADY WILDCAT ($228K yearling; $5,000 January 3yo) can show speed for high-percentage connections.
