Police make arrest in Oak Lawn carjacking
A Chicago man recently paroled for carjacking has been arrested and charged in connection with forcing a woman from her car in
Oak Lawn and fleeing in the vehicle, Oak Lawn police said.
Dwayne Corley, 25, of the 600 block of East 72nd Street, was arrested Thursday following an alleged carjacking Wednesday in Oak Lawn in the 6200 block of 95th Street, police said. Corley
Corley has two prior convictions for carjacking and was released fromprison on parole Oct. 4 for a vehicular hijacking committed in 2015, police said Friday in a news release.
Hewas charged with one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the Oak Lawn incident, with bail set at $150,000, police said.
A female victim had told police she was sitting in her car at about noonWednesday in a parking lot in the 6200 block of West 95th when a man opened her car door, demanded she get out and get down onto the ground.
The woman complied, and the man left in her gray 2017HyundaiVelostar, fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. The carjacker did not showaweapon or imply he had one.
Police said the investigation led them to the area of 71st Street and LangleyAvenue in Chicago, where they saw a man sitting in the parked Hyundai who matched the physical and clothing description of the offender given by the woman.
