Four months after a tornado damaged its roof, the Manhattan post office will reopen Monday for customers with post office boxes, with 24-hour access to their boxes.

Customers can pick up packages or letters at the service door from8:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, according toU.S. Postal Service spokeswoman Beverly Howard.

The retail counter will not yet be open for service.

An EF-1 tornado hit Manhattan’s downtown areaonthe evening of June 26, causing damage to the post office and downing some power lines and trees. Since then, customers have been picking up their mail at the New Lenox post office.

All repairs to the post office have been completed, Howard said.
