Lin­coln-WayWest stu­dent head­ing to med­i­cal con­fer­ence

Sa­muel Duck­worth, a ju­nior at Lin­col­nWayWest High School, will be a del­e­gate to the Con­gress of Fu­ture Med­i­cal Lead­ers in June in Low­ell, Mass. The Con­gress is an hon­ors-only pro­gram for high school stu­dents who want to be­come physi­cians or go in­tomed­i­cal­re­search­fields. Hewill rep­re­sent Illi­nois based on his aca­demic achieve­ment, lead­er­ship po­ten­tial and de­ter­mi­na­tion to serve hu­man­ity in the field of medicine. Duck­worth’s nom­i­na­tion let­ter­was signed by Dr. Mario Capec­chi, win­ner of the No­bel Prize in Medicine. Dur­ing the three-day Con­gress, Duck­worth will join stu­dents from across the coun­try to talk about lead­ing med­i­cal re­search, re­ceive ad­vice from medi- cal school deans on what to ex­pect and learn about cut­ting edge ad­vances and the fu­ture in medicine and med­i­cal tech­nol­ogy.
