Downpours near Chicago, tornadoes downstate
Mid-afternoon Saturday, convective storms broke out along awarm front in Illinois associated with deepening lowpressure in the central Plains. While thunderstorm downpours of an inch or more tracked north through the Chicago area, severe storms spawned14 different tornado reports inwest-central Illinois. In the early evening hours, the Tornado Watch for that areawas no longer in effect, but strong/ severe stormswere still ongoing.
With all thiswarmseason storm activity, it’s hard to believewe just put a cloudy, cold, snowyNovember in the rear-view mirror.
Sunday will see an end to showers and an assessment of possible flooding here, as lowpressure pulls away to the east and another siege of much below-normal cold with occasional snow looms in theweek ahead.
