Shoot­ing on I-55 kills 27-year-old, in­jures 2

A 27-year-old man was killed in a shoot­ing early Satur­day morn­ing on In­ter­state 55 that also in­jured a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman, ac­cord­ing to Illi­nois State Po­lice.

The shoot­ing oc­curred about 1:55 a.m. in the north­bound lanes near Cicero Av­enue. Po­lice said the ve­hi­cle with the three gun­shot vic­tims was found in the right ditch.

The driver was re­port­edly dead on the scene, po­lice said.

The woman was rushed to a lo­cal hospi­tal in crit­i­cal con­di­tion and the boy suf­fered a non-lifethreat­en­ing in­jury, po­lice said.

North­bound I-55 was closed un­til about 7:30 a.m. dur­ing a po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion and all traf­fic di­verted off atHar­lem Av­enue.

Po­lice are ask­ing any­one, who may re­main anony­mous, with in­for­ma­tion about the shoot­ing to call them at 847-294-4400.

The vic­tim’s iden­tity was not re­leased as of Satur­day af­ter­noon.
