UKRAINE JOINING EUROPEAN UNION IS KEY TO ENDING WAR

- Marie E. Roman Tinley Park

During the current peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, it was stated by a Russian representative that if Ukraine wants to join the European Union, Putin says he does not mind. On the other hand, if Ukraine wishes to join NATO, he would strongly object.

The key to winning for Ukraine is to have air power and surveillance from planes. These planes are in Poland and were offered to the Ukrainians to use from the get go to gain power over the air, which Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says is needed to stop the Russians from future attacks against their homeland.

If the European Union agrees to allow Ukraine to join them, then the Ukrainians can man these planes just waiting to be used. The war would then soon be over. Further, if Putin gets angry about the planes in the air that attack Russian tanks, etc., he has no one to blame except himself for saying the Ukrainians could join the European Union.

This would be a good test, as if Putin objects after the fact of saying the Ukrainians

could join the union, then he will be showing the world what a liar he truly, by his own words, is.

If they join the union, the USA has no business interfering and saying the Ukrainians cannot use the planes. If Russia uses planes, then the Ukrainians can, too. Putin started it and now he has to face the consequences. Sometimes people do not like getting fed their own medicine!

Further, since Russia started this unprovoked war, any damages they cause should be paid in full for rebuilding the country they are bombing. War crimes against humanity should be leveled against the Russians led by Putin. War should be between soldiers and not soldiers against children, hospitals, schools, private residences, churches, Holocaust survivors and the aged and the indigent.

Further, infrastructure damage should be repaired at once so civilians, soldiers and others can have the basics of water, food, electricity and other essentials to live.
