What enjoyment do people get looking at a statue, and birds poop on them.

People are peeling the paint off their rear Illinois license plates. What possibly could they be hiding to be doing this?

Paul, Mount Greenwood Who do you complain to about the loud background music on TV, wherein you can’t even hear what the actors are saying?

Margie, Hickory Hills Why is it that so many gas stations have a higher gas price by 20 cents than another? Very simple. There is one with a large sign that reads 20 cents off a gallon of gas with a car wash. The first time I fell for this scam, I got the lowest price car wash and there was no discount. The owner said it did not apply to the lower price car wash. On another visit, I increased my budget to the $8 car wash and what a surprise, the discount was not taken off. They said sometimes the pump messes up. They made more money with the car wash, but most importantly if you don’t complain you will never see your 20 cents off a gallon. It seems people are in a hurry and unfortunately trust the owner.

As the media and the Biden administration cheer on the unionization of entities like Amazon and Starbucks, guess who pays the added cost of their products? Yes, we the consumers. The unions have to prove their worth and the companies and their stockholders will not absorb these additions. Welcome to the real world of capitalism.

Why don’t airlines have a section of the plane for extra heavy people. It would make all airline travelers more comfortable. These seats would be a little wider in the back of the plane, making everybody comfortable and happy.

Mr. G., Chicago

Another tragic event took place, this time in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where a Black man was shot and killed by a police officer. It will take a while to find out if the shooting was justified, but one thing is certain, attorney Benjamin Crump was Johnny on the spot to represent the family of the individual killed. I wonder if Crump has some type of special watch or some other gadget that gets him to the scene of all these shootings so quickly. I also wonder if the day will come when he gets to the scene before any shooting actually happens.

YCM, Orland Park

To the man accused of shooting and gassing his fellow subway passengers in New York City. Do not worry, fella, between the ACLU, the do-gooders and Al Sharpton, you will have more rights than the victims. Sharpton will be there just in case you ordered a Coke, but the police gave you a Coke Zero. I am sure that will get you off on a technicality.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy

was used as a pawn by the Western powers to keep the Russian and the Chinese alliance all balanced. They told Zelenskyy stand up to the Russians, we’ve got your back. Russia invaded, Zelenskyy’s left on his own. Got sold out. Another one of America’s allies gets sold out again.

Ted, Burbank

Tony in Palos Heights should take a course in business economics. There he will discover that, unlike China, the U.S. has no higher ups structure that controls the entire economy. When energy and labor costs and taxes rise, a business has no choice but to pass that cost on to consumers.

J.I., Oak Lawn

All of this talk about inflation. You don’t have inflation, what you have in this word is common, ordinary greed. Greed, greed, greed!

Joe, Oak Forest

To Mr. G of Chicago regarding church closings. I don’t think the reason you cited is the cause. I think the cause is lack of priests and lack of people attending church.

Mark, Orland Park

I read with interest and alarm that prior to the arrest of Deputy Edward Goewey, St Mary Catholic School and the Diocese of Joliet had no protocol on how to handle threats. I had believed that with all the nationwide incidences and coverage of school violence that every school would have this. Surely every employee at every level should be schooled on how to respond, who to report to when a threat is intercepted/encountered. School administration should be writing steps to take, teaching, reviewing and following through on school violence and threats. Everyone should be aware and threats taken seriously with proper notifications being made.

Dolly, Homer

A falling stone facade and recent building collapse in Chicago should be a wake-up call to elected officials and their staffs throughout our south suburbs. Occupied or vacant, there are few municipalities that can say they don’t have dangerously, unmaintained buildings in their own communities, which data shows bring down neighborhoods, attract crime and affect the lives of their residents. Inspections for structural integrity are essential.

Mary, Tinley Park

I get a kick out of Marv from Bridgeview. Every chance he gets he tries to slam Christ and Christians. Marv, in terms of Jessie Sullivan, did you ever hear of David and Goliath, or Gideon and the Midianites. That’s God’s specialty, helping the little guy overcome the big guy.

Sue, Matteson

Instead of wasting taxpayers’ money on a statue for Frank Zuccarelli, why don’t they name a park in his honor. In case they didn’t recognize it, statues are being torn down or removed. Name a park after him where kids can play
