Homicides reported in Alsip and Harvey

Alsip police said they are investigat­ing a shooting at an apartment complex in which a woman died and a man was severely wounded.

Separately, a Chicago woman was shot and killed at an interchang­e on the border of Harvey and Posen, while Harvey police provided updates on two homicides in that city.

In Alsip, police said officers heard gunshots around 10:35 p.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of 115th Street and Pulaski Road and police received several 911 calls regarding shots fired near the Villa Court apartments, 11509 S. Villa Court.

Police said they learned the woman and man drove themselves from the scene to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the woman was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

Informatio­n regarding her was not available from the Cook County medical examiner’s office because her family had not yet been notified as of Friday.

Alsip police said that more than 30 shell casings were recovered at the apartments, and that the two people shot were targeted.

Separately, police are investigat­ing the shooting death May 20 of a Chicago woman at the interchang­e of Interstate 57 and 147th Street.

Linda Chattman, 39, of the 6800 block of South Evans Avenue in Chicago, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. May 20 at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

The shooting occurred on the ramp from westbound 147th Street to northbound I-57, and it was the second recent homicide at that interchang­e.

On May 12, a 27-year-old Peotone man, Marshaun Duncan, was shot as he was exiting from northbound I-57 to westbound 147th when he suffered a gunshot wound and crashed into a semitracto­r-trailer.

That shooting is being investigat­ed by Cook County sheriff ’s police at the request of Posen police.

Harvey police said a person had been taken into custody following the stabbing death of a man May 16.

Police said they responded at about 8:45 p.m. to a report of a man down in the 15300 block of South Dixie Highway and found 40-year-old Ramon Zbanskyi with a puncture wound to his chest.

He was taken to Ingalls Hospital in Harvey and pronounced dead just before 10 p.m.

Police said that a man was later taken into custody for questionin­g as part of the ongoing investigat­ion.

Harvey police said they are also investigat­ing a shooting that took place May 14 in the 14500 block of South Loomis Avenue.

Police said they received a 911 call shortly after 11 p.m. from a woman, telling police her boyfriend had been shot.

Police said they found one shooting victim with gunshot wounds to the chest and hand in the home’s main floor kitchen, and a second person with a gunshot wound to the mouth in the basement at the bottom of a staircase.

That person later died at University of Chicago Ingalls Hospital, police said. The identity of the person was not available from the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

During the initial stages of the investigat­ion, Harvey police said, a possible suspect known only by a nickname was identified, and that police continue to pursue leads.
