Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road: Free classical concert for Open Access at 4 p.m. Jan. 14. Talented pre-conservatory student musicians from the Academy program of the Music Institute of Chicago will present works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Barber and Roumain. They are Sasha Varchenko and Tristan Zhu, who play violin, and Sung Hoon Mo, an accompanist. Monetary donations will be accept to support Open Access, a nonprofit organization that provides weekend backpacks of food for students facing food insecurity, and Community Closets in South Holland and Richton Park, which provides free clothing. Anti-racism workshop is set for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., led by two facilitators from Chicago Regional Organizing for Anti-Racism, the local branch of Crossroads. Attendees will work to become more knowledgeable in order to make wise and welcoming decisions afterward. Participants can have breakfast and socialize at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is included.
