When beauty brand Bloom decides to close its flagship store and focus on online sales, content creator Jenny (Ansley Gordon) must find a way to deal with the backlash from their loyal fanbase and spin the news into a positive thing on social media. Jenny spends a seaside corporate retreat in Miami trying to capture the “life” in “work/life balance,” but while she’s there, her drive to achieve clashes with the chill vibe of activities director Nate (Jonathan Stoddard). Sparks fly between the two, but there is one problem: Nate is her boss’s brother.

After the rumored return of an old adversary, notorious Maltese Falcon private investigat­or Sam Spade, played by Clive Owen, is forced out of retirement in this new limited crime series set in 1960s France. Also starring Cara Bossom, Louise Bourgoin, Chiara Mastroiann­i and Stanley Weber.

True Detective: Night Country

HBO, 8 p.m. Season Premiere

Five years after the last season ended, True Detective returns us to the heart of dark crime thrillers with a new showrunner and a new, unusual location: Arctic Alaska. Set entirely in the dark, during winter, the new season, written and directed by Issa López, follows two detectives (Jodie Foster and Kali Reis) as they investigat­e the mysterious disappeara­nce of a group of research scientists. You may want to watch this one with the lights on: This season is dark in more ways than one.

From the creator of Downton Abbey and The Gilded Age, this historical drama series set in an affluent district of 19th-century London picks up 25 years after the limited series Belgravia left off, following Frederick Trenchard (Benjamin Wainwright) and his new love interest, Clara Dunn (Harriet Slater), and the challenges of their courtship.

All Creatures Great and Small PBS, 8 p.m.

In “Carpe Diem,” Siegfried (Samuel West) has the bright idea of hiring an experience­d bookkeeper, Miss Harbottle (Neve McIntosh), to bring method to their madness. Meanwhile, James (Nicholas Ralph) and Helen (Rachel Shenton) take inspiratio­n from Siegfried’s “carpe diem” approach and make a long-awaited decision.

The Curse
