Franciscan Health Olympia Fields names new chairwoman

Andrea Ramirez-Justin was recently appointed the new chairwoman of the Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Board of Trustees. She first joined the Board of Trustees in 2022 and also serves as a board member of the Franciscan Health Foundation for South Suburban Chicago.

Ramirez-Justin is taking the helm of the Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Board of Trustees following the retirement of longtime chairman Terrence Brown.

Brown will remain on the board as a trustee for the next year.

Joining Ramirez-Johnson on the board as a new member this year is Kelvin Oliver, a member of the Village of Olympia Fields Board of Trustees.

Also joining the board of trustees are OB/GYN Gail Cansler, MD, who serves as president of the hospital’s medical staff; Diagnostic Radiologis­t Raj Chinnappan, MD and Cardiologi­st Omar Hamoui, MD. Dr. Hamoui also serves as medical director of the Franciscan Health Olympia Fields Heart & Vascular Institute.

Area students participat­e in Iowa dance marathon

More than 1,100 current University of Iowa students participat­ed in the 30th annual student-led Dance Marathon, generating more than $1.4 million for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Dance Marathon has generated more than $35.8 million in its history.

Those participat­ing included local students from Chicago: Mia Miceli; Evergreen Park: Alexis Elwood; Frankfort: Taylor Arthur, Grace Lanigan; Lockport: Isabella Dixon, Sydney Stewart; Mokena: Ella Pignotti, Benjamin Ruiz; New Lenox: Alexis Lieb, Madison Plesek, Taylor Wos; Orland Park: Ella Coyle, Ella McDonald, Caroline Schmidt; Palos Heights: Allison Duffy; and Tinley Park: Gabriella Collins, Clara Jordan, Abigail Miller, Olivia Nilsson, Brooke Zwartz.

Lewis University students studying in Rome

For the second year in a row, Lasallian Universiti­es Center for Education in Rome, Italy has a record enrollment of Lewis University students living and studying in Rome. Twenty-four students from 14 majors and four colleges are participat­ing in the LUCE Rome Program for the Spring 2024 semester, including Lockport’s Elisa Jackowiak and Madeline Stachacz, New Lenox’s Sofia Hunt and Nathaniel Rector, Oak Forest’s Ramiro Regalado, Orland Park’s Emily Latif, Sauk Village’s Sabel Raymond and Tinley Park’s Lindsey Reilly.

Orland Park’s Aiello inducted into honor society

Giana Aiello of Orland Park was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Aiello was initiated at Elmhurst University.
