Man from Joliet is charged in death of woman
Burned body found in barrel last week in Lockport Township
Murder charges have been filed against a man in the case of a Joliet woman whose burned body was found in a barrel last week in Lockport Township, Joliet police said.
Ashley Tucker, 24, was pronounced dead Oct. 24 and was identified three days later through tattoo comparison, the Will County coroner’s office said.
Peter Zabala, 42, of Joliet, has been charged with murder in Tucker’s death, police confirmed.
Zabala had already been in police custody since Oct. 26 for allegedly violating the sex offender registry.
He had been charged and had pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sex abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16 in 2007 and was sentenced to seven years in prison, according to court records.
