Orland Park playground donated to kids in Pakistan

-

Playground equipment that was decommissioned last year in Orland Park has found new life more than 7,500 miles away in Pakistan. The equipment once resided at Veterans Park and was replaced when the park was renovated and updated in 2018.

In late November, a team of volunteers gathered on a school playground in Karachi, Pakistan, and reassembled the equipment after the village’s Parks and Grounds Department partnered with Kids Around the World, an organization that helps repurpose playground equipment in underserved areas of the world.

Since 2012, the village has partnered with the organization annually as it replaces and updates area playgrounds. Equipment from Hertz, Sunny Pine and Eagle Ridge I parks were removed and donated to community playgrounds around the world.
