Speak Out

Word to the White House. Those

of you who do not want to give unemployment benefits to the working class remember this: we voted you in and we will vote you out. November is coming.

Mike, Chicago

To Dave from Beecher. Your comment about 40 million people out of work and some are receiving at the federal level $600 more a week, calling them deadbeats. That comment brought tears to my eyes early this Sunday morning. These are our working people and middle class people who need to survive. These people put money back into the economy and there is nothing deadbeat about them at all.

BJ, Hazel Crest Dave, You must be a millionaire, because most of the people that I have seen who complained about the $600 unemployment benefit were millionaires. Did you moan and groan about the multitrillion tax cut given to millionaires and corporations in 2018? It’s also unfair to compare unemployment benefits to Social Security benefits, which are earned based on you lifetime of earnings. Many of these people are raising families, so $600 a week does not seem to be too much to me.

Paul, Tinley Park

I’d like to comment on the $600 a week unemployment these

people have been getting for the last six months. Does the government ever think about senior that are only living on $1,300 a month. Try and pay your bills on $1,300 a month when $300 of it goes to your health insurance with a $6,000 deductible. I’m only 63 and lost my husband a few months ago. I can’t work because

I have osteoporosis of the spine.

Mary Ellen, Chicago Ridge

If teachers are afraid of working

onsite then we need to consider remote learning and closing physical school buildings. And then we won’t need as many teachers and our overburdened property tax bills will finally go down. Staying home getting paid and collecting pensions for not working is not an option. Everyone cannot stay home like the prima donna teachers are demanding!

Russ, Tinley Park

We need Sheriff David Clarke for

president.
