■ Cardinals: C Yadier Molina said he’s one of the players on the Cardinals who tested positive for COVID-19. The nine-time All-Star revealed his results Tuesday in a Spanish-language Instagram post. Soon afterward, the Cards issued a release naming six of the players who have tested positive. The others are INFs Paul DeJong, Edmundo Sosa and Rangel Ravelo along with RHP Junior Fernandez and Kodi Whitley. Cards GM John Mozeliak said Monday that seven players and six staff members had tested positive. At the time, Mozeliak said the people to test positive hadn’t been identified publicly because they had declined to have their names released. The Cards said Tuesday that six players had decided to grant permission to have their names revealed. The team’s coronavirus outbreak resulted in the postponement of a scheduled three-game weekend series in Milwaukee as well as a four-game series in Detroit that was supposed to run Monday through Thursday. The Cards have played just five games this season and are hoping to return to action Friday hosting the Cubs. Mozeliak said Monday that five of the 13 overall members of the Cards’ traveling party to test positive were asymptomatic. The other eight had minor symptoms including headaches, coughs, sniffles and lowgrade fevers. Mozeliak said none of the eight had required hospitalization.

■ Nationals: OF Juan Soto was reinstated by the Nationals from the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday after missing the team’s first seven games of the season. Soto was sidelined on opening day, July 23, after testing positive for the coronavirus. He only was allowed to return to workouts Saturday, part of an unusual four-day break for the Nats caused by the then-suspension of the Marlins’ season after a team outbreak of COVID-19. The 21-year-old Soto is a big part of defending the Nats offense. He had 34 HRs and 110 RBIs during the 2019 regular season before becoming a postseason star while helping the franchise win its first World Series.

■ Indians: Manager Terry Francona continued to undergo medical tests for a gastrointestinal issue, and there remains no timetable for when he’ll return to the team. Francona had scheduled appointments with “a series of doctors” at the Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday and Wednesday, said team president Chris Antonetti, who’s with the team in Cincinnati. Antonetti doesn’t know when Francona will be back and doesn’t believe he will be sidelined for a significant period. Antonetti said that Francona, 61, hasn’t been admitted to the hospital. The Indians open a twogame series at home with the Reds on Wednesday.

■ Twins: Jose Berrios pitched six strong innings, Nelson Cruz had three hits and the Twins beat the visiting Pirates 7-3 on Tuesday. The Twins won their fifth in a row and improved to 9-2 for the second time in the team’s 60-year history. The other was 2001. The Pirates lost their fifth straight and at 2-9 have baseball’s worst winning percentage at .182.
