WATCHTHIS: FRIDAY
“World’s Funniest Animals”
(8 p.m., CW): Host Elizabeth Stanton welcomes comic and illusionist Murray SawChuck as her special guest in tonight’s new episode featuring animals doing some of the funniest things ever caught on video. Among tonight’s featured critters: a talented retriever who absolutely loves to salsa dance, amonkey who’s a sneaky thief, a stubborn camel, and a snorting seal.
“Alita: Battle Angel”
(6:55 p.m., Cinemax): Adapted from a popular 1990s manga series by Yukito Kishiro, director Robert Rodriguez’s 2019 cyberpunk action flick has no less a power player than James Cameron as a producer and co-writer, but the project still went through a tortured pre-production process between its 2003 announcement and the commencement of filming in 2016. Jennifer Connelly, Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali and Jackie Earle Haley co-star.
“Dracula” (7 p.m., TCM): Screen history certainly has not lacked for its share of Draculas, but the tastiest arguably remains Bela Lugosi, who plays the Transylvanian count in this 1931 classic. The bloodsucker has his arch nemesis Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan) to contend with as he terrorizes England — and one lovely-throated beauty (Helen Chandler) in particular. Director Tod Browning’s (“Freaks”) cast also includes David Manners and Dwight Frye.
“AWilderness of Error”
(8 p.m., 10:07 p.m., FX): This five-part documentary series from filmmaker ErrolMorris concludes with two back-to-back episodes, starting with “When a Narrative Becomes Reality,” in which convicted killer Jeffrey MacDonald is brutally disappointed by Joe McGinnis’ bestselling book “Fatal Vision.” The discovery of new evidence could help MacDonald, however.
“Kingdom of Silence” (8 p.m., 11:30 p.m., Showtime): Premiering on the second anniversary ofWashington Post journalist and U.S. resident Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, Emmy-winning filmmaker Rick Rowley’s searing new documentary examines the complicated dynamic between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
