Moraine Valley grad wins IRS award

Beth Triezenberg, a 2015 graduate of Moraine Valley Community College, has received the 2021 Chief Counsel Award for Outstanding Paralegal Support presented by the Internal Revenue Service. She earned her associate of applied science degree in office technology along with the small database administrator certificate and the business skills certificate, and is a paralegal specialist for the IRS office in Chicago.

Hickory Hills’ Hass accepted into Wartburg program

Payton Hass of Hickory Hills has been accepted into the Wartburg College Teacher Education Program.

Crete’s Hoffmeyer named Albion College Fellow

Crete student Kyle Hoffmeyer was named a new Albion College Fellow at the end of the fall 2021 semester. This honor is reserved for full-time students who maintain a GPA of 3.7 or higher for three consecutive semesters.

THEFT ARREST: Alexa Misch, 18, of Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of theft under $500 after stealing merchandise from a store in the 9700 block of South Ridgeland Avenue on Jan. 12 and Jan. 30 while employed at the business, police said.

Homer Glen

AGGRAVATED SPEEDING: Alina Nastas, 33, of the 17700 block of South Robert Emmett Drive, Homer Glen, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, aggravated speeding, suspended registration and no insurance Jan. 18 at Bruce Road and Robert Emmett Drive, police said.

Palos Heights

DUI ARREST: David Landis, 31, of the 12300 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, Palos Heights, was arrested and accused of drunken driving in the 12100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue Jan. 28, police said.

Oak Forest

STOLEN CAR: A man told police someone stole his 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck after he briefly left it running with the keys in the ignition in the 4200 block of West 163rd Street on Feb. 5. The victim said he saw a black Dodge Charger pull up to his driveway and an unknown man exit. The unknown man then entered the pickup and fled the scene toward Frontage and Pulaski roads. The victim said he had just purchased the truck five days earlier.

Orland Park

THEFT ARREST: Arianna Clark, 30, of the 15000 block of Minerva Avenue, Dolton, was arrested and accused of theft after stealing money from the cash register on four separate occasions between Jan. 3-21 while employed at Kohl’s in Orland Park Place mall, police said.

Will County

HIT AND RUN: Charlene Mikolaitus-Kucynda, 43, of Elwood, was arrested and accused of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to report an accident to police and following too closely after a Jan. 20 crash in the 21000 block of Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox, police said.

Homewood

STOLEN CAR: Karl Williams, 40, Cicero, was arrested and accused of possessing a stolen motor vehicle and theft of government property Jan. 24 in the 2000 block of Ridge Road after he was taken into custody in Chicago Heights with a stolen Homewood police squad car, police said.

Oak Lawn

VANDALISM: Five feet of chain link was reported cut from a business’ perimeter fence Jan. 20 in the 4400 block of Southwest Highway.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Ayman M. Atiyh, 18, undisclosed block of Parke Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, speeding and improper lane use Jan. 24 in the 10300 block of Lawler Avenue, police said.

VEHICULAR TRESPASS: Dedragus M. Chamberlain, 35, Chicago, was arrested and accused of vehicular trespass Jan. 25 as he was checking out of the Midway Inn and Suites, 9320 Cicero Ave., after being associated with a car parked in the lot that was reported stolen out of Chicago, police said.
