Franciscan names new president, CEO for Olympia Fields hospital

Franciscan Alliance’s board of trustees has named Raymond Grady as president and chief executive officer of Franciscan Health Olympia Fields and Franciscan’s south suburban division, according to the health care group.

He will start July 18, according to Franciscan, and is replacing Allan Spooner, who is leaving Franciscan for other opportunit­ies. Spooner had been president and CEO since the fall of 2016.

“Ray Grady is a seasoned healthcare executive and strategic leader who has influenced the growth and success of numerous organizati­ons including multi-hospital systems, teaching hospitals, community hospitals, and safety net organizati­ons,” Kevin D. Leahy, president and CEO of Franciscan Alliance Inc., said in a news release. “He has a demonstrat­ed track record leading multidisci­plinary teams, interactin­g with clinical profession­als, and partnering with the community.”

Grady is a senior adviser with Juniper Advisory in Chicago, a consulting firm focused on nonprofit hospital mergers and acquisitio­ns.

He has worked in health care for more than 40 years, including as president and CEO of NorthShore University Health System’s Evanston hospital, and CEO of Methodist Hospitals in Gary and Merrillvil­le, Indiana, according to Franciscan.

Grady has been on the boards of the American Hospital Associatio­n, the Indiana Hospital Associatio­n, and was a chairman of the Illinois Hospital Associatio­n, according to Franciscan.

Along with his roles as president and CEO at Olympia Fields, Grady will be a part of Franciscan Alliance’s senior leadership team that advises and guides Franciscan’s twelve hospitals and multiple clinics, according to Franciscan Alliance.

In addition to Olympia Fields, Franciscan operates hospitals in Indiana in communitie­s including Crown Point, Dyer, Hammond, Michigan City and Munster.
