Oak Hill takes series against Lee Academy

Garrett Edwards wasted no opportunit­ies at the plate on Thursday, driving in five runs on three hits to lead the Oak Hill Academy Raiders past Lee Academy 18- 8 at home.

The Raiders were able to take two out of three games from the Colts in the Class 5A, District 1 series. Oak Hill improved its records to 12-9 overall and 9-3 in the district.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths in Thursday's outing as the Raiders collected 17 hits and Lee Academy had seven.

Oak Hill's Ty Harden, John Ross Craven, Edwards,

Jacob Mobley, Brian Buchanan, and Cameron Dill each managed multiple hits for the Raiders, while Edwards, Craven, and Harden each managed three hits to lead Oak Hill.

Oak Hill got things started in the first inning. Collin Boyd drove in two with a triple.

The Raiders notched four runs in the second inning. Mobley, Dill and Grant

Fretz each had RBIs in the big inning.

Craven was on the pitcher's mound for Oak Hill. The ace allowed two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 11.

The Raiders tallied two home runs in the game. Dill went deep in the second inning. Craven went for the long ball in the fourth inning.

Oak Hill tallied 12 hits in the game. Craven, Mobley, and Edwards all collected multiple hits as Craven went 3-for-4 at the plate.

CLARKSDALE – The

Raiders bats were strong to start the series against the Colts, but it wasn't enough to pull out a victory in game one.

Lee Academy took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored two runs for the Colts. They scored three runs in the second inning.

Gunter Reed was on the mound for Oak Hill. He allowed six hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.

The Raiders collected six hits with Harden andn Dill getting two hits each.
