Mr. Donald Ray “Donnie” Hurst, 73, passed away on July 31, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Donnie was born on June 12, 1949, in Pine Bluff, to the late Jimmy and Louise Thompson Hurst. Along with his late wife, Celeste, Donnie Owned and Operated DC Tire Company in West Point for 31 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and eating seafood. He loved to travel, especially taking a cruise. He could be found several times a day hanging out with friends drinking coffee at The Tin Lizzie. He especially enjoyed spending time with his sister- in- law, Ginger and her husband, John Gill. He married Celeste Howard Hurst on December 21, 1981 in West Point and she preceded him in death on September 19, 2021. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 11: 00 A. M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Mathis officiatin­g and assisted by Dr. James Towery. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangemen­ts. Survivors include one daughter, Angie Ray ( James) of Southaven: one son, Donald Wayne Hurst (Amy) of Fairhope, Alabama: three grandchild­ren; Brittany Hurst, Kelci Ray, and Kayli Ray: three great- grandchild­ren: two sisters, Louise Barnett ( Curt) of Houston and Sarah Pulasky (Bob) of Dallas, Texas, and one brother, Dwight Hurst (Diane) of Corinth. Pallbearer­s will be Donnie Hurst, John Gill, Gene Gwathney, Joey Morgan, Jody Guest, and Buddy Chadwick.Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Sammy Guest, Paul Carpenter, Eugene “Pee Wee” Oswalt, and Lonnie Brand.
