Drungole-Ellis sworn in for four more years as chancery judge
STARKVILLE – The Paula Drungole-Ellis era continues in the courtroom.
On Tuesday, family, friends, and colleagues joined at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse in Starkville for Drungole-Ellis' swearing-in ceremony to continue her role as Senior Chancellor of the 14th Chancery Court District. Initially assuming her role in November of 2018, Drungole-Ellis serves the counties of Oktibbeha, Lowndes, Clay, Noxubee, Chickasaw, and Webster.
“I, Paula Drungole-Ellis, solemnly swear that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as Chancery Court Judge, according to the best of my ability and understand, agreeable to the Constitution of the United States, and laws of the State of Mississippi, so help me God,” DrungoleEllis swore.
After she was sworn in by her predecessor Dorothy W. Colom, Drungole-Ellis gave her remarks to the attendees at the courthouse.
“I'm honored to serve this community presiding over the six counties of the 14th Judicial District, and I am so proud to serve as the senior chancery court judge,” said Drungole-Ellis. “Every person who comes before this court will know that they have been treated with fairness, and I appreciate all of you who continue to pray for me, encourage me, know my integrity, my character, my love for what is right, and my love for the people. I appreciate every one of you.”
While Tuesday was an “incredible honor” for Drungole-Ellis, it was even more of an honor to have Colom swear her in.
“She's indeed a trailblazer, and I've said this before and I'll say it again when I say I am proud to follow in her footsteps,” Drungole-Ellis said.
