Brookhaven sets schedule for upcoming holiday events
BROOKHAVEN >> The borough has planned a host of upcoming holiday related events for residents.
The popular holiday parade will take place 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 and is dedicated to law enforcement personnel. The parade will depart from Our Lady of Charity Church and proceed across Victor Avenue to Trimble Boulevard, turn right on to Mt. Vernon Avenue, cross Brookhaven Road and on to Chandler Drive, then proceed to Coebourn Boulevard. The reviewing stand will be located near Coebourn Elementary School.
Expected participants include marching bands, school and church groups, floats, local businesses, mummers brigades, antique cars, veterans groups and of course, Santa Claus. This event is open to the general public.
The borough recreation committee is sponsoring pictures with Santa Claus for resident children 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Nov. 28 at the municipal center on Cambridge Road.
The recreation committee will also host its 10th annual senior citizens holiday luncheon for residents 62 and older 1 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the municipal center on Cambridge Road.
Ticket registration will take place Nov. 17 through Dec. 2 during regular business hours at borough hall.
Admission is free, but tickets are required and seating will be limited.
And, the holiday tree lighting will take place 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 on the grounds of the municipal center.
The events are sponsored by the Brookhaven Recreation Committee and the Brookhaven Business & Professional Association.
Light refreshments will be served and Santa Claus will be present.
