Reverend Joseph C. Dalton passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on November 6, 2015. Rev. Dalton was born in Chester, PA to Joseph and Agnes Dalton, on October 29, 1931 and was a member of North Chester Baptist Church.

Joe graduated from Nether Providence High School in 1949. He then entered the Air Force and served as a B-36 radar mechanic. Rev. Dalton was licensed for Gospel Ministry in 1953 and ordained at West Handley Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Bible from Philadelph­ia College of Bible in 1962.

The first church he pastored was Crum Lynne Baptist. After that, he went on to pastor at First Baptist of Seaford, DE, Congressio­nal Heights Baptist of Rockville, MD, First Welsh Baptist Church of Taylor, PA, the First Baptist of Harrison Valley, and Brookhaven Baptist in Brookhaven, PA.

Rev. Dalton was the pastor at Victoria Chapel in Springfiel­d, PA when he passed. Joe served Victoria for over 30 years. He also served as interim pastor at Ridley Park Baptist, Upland Baptist, Reading First Baptist, and Prospect Hill Baptist.

Joe was a member of the State and Regional Boards of American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvan­ia and Delaware.

Joe served as a volunteer EMT for both the Brookhaven and Parkside Companies.

Reverend Dalton is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Foster. He is survived by his wife, Maryanne Dalton; his sister, Doris Simmonds; his children, Debi (John), Judi (Terry), Kathy, Betsi, Dave, Jay (Connie), Stefanie (Larry); his grandchild­ren, Andrew Joseph (Danielle), Angela, Jonathon (Mary), Caroline, Samuel, Dylan and Eli; his great grandchild­ren , Jared, Victoria, Joey and Aubree.

Joe was an avid train enthusiast and gardener. He also enjoyed studying about history, reading about history, and talking about history. He loved music and spending time with his family. Joe loved the Church, and dedicated his life to living his faith.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Victoria Chapel, 1459 Baltimore Pike, Springfiel­d, PA, 19064 and/or to Upland Baptist Church, 325 Main Street, Upland, PA 19015.

A service will be held on November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Upland Baptist Church, 325 Main Street, Upland, PA 19015. The family will be greeting after the service. Interment will be private. Arrangemen­ts by Kovacs Funeral Home, Inc. www.kovacsfune­ralhomeinc.com
