A SWEETIE

I am a grandmother of the sweetest little boy you ever wanted to meet. I was bringing him to my house and driving on Route 291 and he sees the smoke stacks from the refineries. He says to me, “look gram, there’s the cloud factory.” I thought I had to share that with my fellow readers because that was the sweetest thing I ever heard. Hope you have happy new year.

A SWEETIE II

To “Thinking Of Old Days,” I have a 5 ½ -yearold grandson. When it snowed, he wanted to shovel. He rakes leaves, sweeps up, helps to vacuum, does dishes, helps me in many odd jobs and loves to help mommom prepare with cooking. I don’t speak for all, only him, and maybe he’s he is a little spoiled, but he is worth it.

CHRISTMAS MIRACLE

Thank you to the honest person who turned in my lost wallet at Harrah’s on Christmas Day. I was completely distraught when I got home from Harrah’s late on Christmas Day and discovered that I did not have my wallet. My niece called the casino and spoke to a kind security guard who confirmed that not only did they have my wallet, but all of its contents as well — license, cash and credits cards were all there. Since they did not have the name of the person who turned it in, I’m hoping they see this message and know how thankful I am for their honesty. With all of the bad news we hear nowadays, it’s good to know there are still honest ple in the world.

IT DIDN’T HELP

peo-

I read this week that Ryan Howard is being accused of using performance-enhancing drugs. If so, you could have fooled me. He didn’t play well for the Phillies. It must have been when he was a kid.

WHY CAN’T THEY BE LIKE WE WERE?

“Thinking Of Old Days” is right, these kids today are spoiled rotten. That’s all they are. They’re spoiled punks who don’t appreciate anything. They don’t know anything, they’re ruining our country, and the same goes for the teachers who are teaching them everything wrong.

OFF THE RAILS

Thank you to SEPTA for the new fancy parking lot at Secane station. Thanks again for closing it Jan. 11 for more construction.

GOING TO POT

If anyone had any doubts about the demise of this country, all they had to do was watch the news the other night. There was a segment on Colorado, where pot has been legalized, and how people were going out on the street, where you have homeless people, and they’re giving them marijuana joints to smoke. The reason they’re doing this is to show them that somebody cares about them. If somebody cares about them, then they can get them off the street and give them a job. I don’t want my tax dollars going to help people on the street to get high. No wonder this country is in the shape it is.

SHAME ON RTM

I agree with the callers on the Rose Tree Media superintendent’s bonus. Isn’t it interesting how almost all the time, bonuses are given out to people who are paid with tax dollars? You know it would be nice if all jobs are like that. You do the job that you were hired for, and at the end of the year you get a few thousand dollars in bonus money. Let’s take all the controversy in the district this year out of the equation for a moment. I didn’t notice any major improvements and/or anything else going above and beyond on administrators’ part, so he’s getting a bonus for doing the job he was already compensated for doing. I guess on the other hand, people can’t get fired anymore for not doing their job, so the universe balances out.

NO FAN OF TEBOW

I like how Tebow fans are saying what goes around comes around for Chip Kelly, after he cut Tebow. I have news for them: A lot of personnel decisions factored into it, but Tebow wasn’t one of them.

GOP HYPOCRITES

I saw that the GOP governors of Texas and Oklahoma declared states of emergency, which means they’re going to be asking for federal money. They’re two of the most outspoken critics of the government, and now they’re going to want money from it. The hypocrisy is not lost on me. It’s like all Republicans: They hate the government until they need it.
