Betty Ray McSweeney

Betty Ray McSweeney of Broomall, formerly of Lansdowne, died on December 30, 2015 at the age of 83.

Betty graduated from Philadelphia General Hospital in 1953 with a Nursing degree and also worked at the hospital for many years. She later did private duty nursing. She was a long time member of Springfield Baptist Church in Springfield where she was very active being in the choir and was head of the Mission Fund. She was the Music Director of vacation bible school for the Whalen Baptist Church , She was a member of the American Baptist Women , She loved gardening, birds and all animals.

She was the beloved wife of late John J. McSweeney Jr. who died May 24, 2014. Devoted mother of John J. McSweeney III, Lauren Drago (Rich), Diane McSweeney, Marianne McSweeney and Robert McSweeney. Also survived by her 6 grandchildren, her sister-in-law Gloria Goodrich, her nephew James R. Goodrich( Lynn) and his family. Sister of the late Howard Goodrich.

Funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Springfield Baptist Church, 184 N. Norwinden Drive, Springfield, where relatives and friends may call after 10 a.m. Internment at West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
