Frank C. George
Frank C. George died peacefully at Lima Estates in Media, Pa. on December 13, 2015 at the age of 82.
Frank was born on February 18, 1933 in Haddonfield, N.J. He graduated from Darby High School, Darby, Pa. where he met his wife Pat Abrecka. Frank served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 – 1956 assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Seas. Returning to Darby after his naval service Frank worked as a machinist for his uncle, Charles Stoddart, before beginning a 30+ year career working for General Electric’s Space and Re-Entry Systems Division, in Philadelphia and Valley Forge, Pa.
Frank and Pat were long time residents of Ridley Park, Pa. where Frank organized and participated in many community activities. Specifically, Frank was an original founder and coach for many years of the Ridley Park Boy’s Club, as well as a Board of Trustees member for Taylor Hospital. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles football fan and never missed a game on TV.
Frank is survived by his children, Doreen George Carson (and spouse Kevin Carson) and F. Dean George (and spouse Linda Berkenbaugh George), his brother Dan C. George, and his grandchildren, Courtney Carson, Rebecca Carson, Dalton George, and Desiree George. His wife, Patricia Abrecka George, predeceases him.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 10 A.M. at Lima Estates, 411 N. Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063. All are welcomed to attend to honor Frank’s life. The family is very appreciative of all the care that Frank received from the caregivers and staff at Lima Estates over the last several years of his life.
