A BONUS FOR WHAT?

I agree with the other callers and can’t believe that the Rose Tree Media School Board gave a bonus to the superintendent. With a salary over $200,000, he should not need to receive another $6,667. I do not get yearly cost-of-living increases, but am still expected to pay the rising school taxes. What other waste is going on in our school district? It is time for the school board to take into account people who are on a fixed income. JANE IN UPPER PROVIDENCE

GREAT END TO 2015

Last Wednesday, my daughter-in-law and I enjoyed breakfast at the Aston Diner. When I went to pay our bill, the cashier informed me it had already been paid. This kind gesture was the nicest thing to happen to me in 2015, and has given me an uplift as I look forward to 2016. Thank you, dear friend, your kindness truly summed up Matthew 25:40.

NUMBERS FIGURE

The Obama supporters keep telling us what good shape the economy is in and touting the bogus 5 percent unemployment numbers, which you claim is a GOP talking point. Maybe you should scold the Times for posting 10 pages of mortgage foreclosures. I don’t think they are GOP supporters.

CHIP OF SCREAMS

I say good riddance to Chip Kelly. He should have never been hired at the professional level to begin with. He was all hype and no substance, kind of like President Obama. It’s a shame we can’t fire him the same way.

HIT IT, DONALD

Donald Trump is making a mockery of the whole election process. The way he talks to potential voters like he’s taking to children, he makes fun of the country and he makes fun of other candidates running for office. This is not how you run an election. He hasn’t told me anything that I need to hear. He’s got to drop out of this election to make it a sound election.

GARBAGE IN ...

The funny thing is that the caller complaining about listening to the president’s weekly radio address probably has no problem listening to the babbling on right-wing talk radio for 12 hours a day.

MEAN AND CHEAP

The flaw of “Mr. Cratchit’s” theory about self-respecting Republican business owners is they don’t want a respectable physical plant because they don’t want the jobs in the U.S. They can pay people overseas a lot less money than people in the U.S., so that’s what Republicans do with their invested money.

OH THE HUMANITY

2015 ended on a high: The economy is doing great, the retailers did fabulous for the holiday season, gas prices are way down, and everyone’s doing terrific except for the seniors and disabled. Why is it when everything is so great for the rest of the country while we have to suffer? Please explain it to me. Thank you.

BROKE AND CONFUSED

DO THE MATH

I saw another editorial about crushing cuts to education in our state. What is so ironic is trying asking for facts and figures on the state education spending from the individuals writing these articles; you never get a direct answer. Dollars and where they came from had to be available to claim huge education funding cuts. Otherwise there are pure lies.

FILL THE TROUGH

I saw the mayor of Philadelphia on television complaining about the budget because he wanted full funding of the school district. He says it’s about education and he wants full funding. No, it isn’t about education: It’s about the teachers union, their salaries and benefits packages, and it’s about the administrators making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

BLAME THE POLITICIANS

To “No Middle Class,” you are blaming the wrong set of people for the shrinking middle class. Most of the wealthy people do pay their fair share. Maybe you should look at all the unfunded government programs racking up the debt and eating through the middle class taxpayers’ money.
