Donald R. Blythe, 61 of Ridley Park, formerly of Secane, at peace with his life on this Earth, passed in his sleep without any pain on January 3, 2016.

Mr. Blythe grew up in Westbrook Park. He was the son of the late Charles T. and Eloise J. (Gabe) Bly the, Sr. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School and graduated from Upper Darby High School, where he was a three way varsity football player on offense, defense and special teams.

Donald worked for the Gro Constructi­on Company as a stone mason’s assistant and later built several stone works on his own. He was a caddie at the Rolling Green Golf Club and for a short time, a card dealer in Atlantic City.

Don struggled early on with mental illness, but settled down to be a warm and friendly person who was liked by all.

He enjoyed listening to the radio, tuned into the music of the 60’s and 70’s, wrote thoughtful letters to friends and family and always sent out personally selected cards for holidays and special occasions.
