Ann Kay, age 79, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at her home on Friday, December 25, 2015 surrounded by her family after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer

Ann attended Ridley Park High School class of 1954 where she enjoyed playing many sports. Ann married her husband, Jesse W. Kay, on May 17, 1957 and devoted her time to raising her family.

She graduated from The Academy of Hair Design in 1970 and was employed at Roma Hair Design for 16 years before retiring in 1989. After retirement, Ann enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Sharon and her family at their home in Chesapeake City, MD (Hollywood Beach).

Ann also enjoyed being a snowbird, spending winters at her home in Bradenton, FL where she had many friends. Ann enjoyed being a member of her high school friends card club, which formed in 1955. Even through the loss of three members, the card club still meets once a month in Dover, DE. Ann was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church.

Ann is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Kay Strohm (Philip) of Chesapeake City, Maryland, and Cynthia Anne Kay of Newark, Delaware. Additional­ly, she leaves behind three grandchild­ren, whom she adored, Scott Brandon Polleck (Kelly), Kristen Leigh Strohm (Aaron McDaniel), and Logan Ashley Strohm. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Janet Kay Bell and family, and her precious angels (Ann’s nieces), BethAnn McClure, Wendy McClure Zorrer, Dawn Coale, Susan McClure, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. Ann was predecease­d by her parents, Dorothy Pote Blakeley and S. David Blakeley, and her brothers and sisters, Lois Dahl, S. David Blakeley, Jr., Richard H. Blakeley (Professor), and Connie M. McClure. Ann’s husband of 58 years, Jesse William Kay, stayed with her until the end, passing himself two days later, on December 27th.
