Tick, tick, tick . . . time is running out to be part of the 33rd annual Daily Times/Sunoco Logistics Champs ‘n’ Charity Classic.

You only have until Monday to be part of the best fundraising tournament in Delaware County. And all it takes is an email to be part of the festivities.

The coed tournament is Aug. 10-12 with the championship round Monday, Aug. 15 starting at 5:45 p.m. The men’s tournament runs from Aug. 13-15, with the championship round starting after the coed final Monday, Aug. 15.

All games are played at Mickey Vernon Park in Marcus Hook.

Deadline for entry is Monday, Aug. 1. That date is also the deadline for when rosters have to be in. Men’s rosters are limited to 20 players, while the coed teams have a 24-player limit. All players must be playoff eligible in their respective leagues and must come from a Delaware County league that is registered with the Daily Times.

The bracket drawing and final organizational meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wed. Aug. 3 in the stands on Field 1 at Mickey Vernon Park.

Registration is easy. Teams can register through the Delco Softball message board or by emailing Laird at booglaird@aol.com. The entry fee is $200. Checks and money orders should be made out to the American Cancer Society. Each team that enters is given 50 raffle tickets to sell. Teams will get 15 T-shirts when they turn in their sold chances.

All the details about the tournament including key dates, roster information and the tournament rules can be found on the Delco Softball message board at members7.boardhost.com/ leftysirishpub/ or simply search Delco Softball message board.

Of course, the purpose of the tournament is to raise money in the fight against cancer. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Tournament officials have set a bold goal of $40,000 and the tournament has raised more than $785,000 in the 30 years it has been played for the benefit of the ACS.

Much of the money, though, is raised through the raffle ticket and once again tournament officials have put together 10 great prizes, including the “Travel the World” grand prize.

Raffle tickets are $5 and will be available in hardcopy form and online. The online version is available at champsncharity.com so be sure to check out the great prizes, tell your friends and get the word out via social media.

The big thing now is to get the word out to the teams that want to be part of this great annual event. So if you want to be involved, don’t delay because you only have a few days left.
