Penncrest sets program wins record with 12th shutout

Once again, there Penncrest’s opponent’s

Penncrest notched its 12th shutout of the season Thursday with a 3-0 nonleague girls soccer victory over Pope John Paul II.

The Lions set a program record for most wins in a season as they closed their regular season with a 12-1-3 record.

It was made possibble by Olivia Mancarella, who scored twice, and superb backline play by Carly Dunford, Sarah Hughes and Katie Sparling. The Lions await seeding for the District 1 AAA playoffs.

In other nonleague action: STRATH HAVEN 6, KENNETT 0 >> After clinching the Central League title earlier was a zero on side of the scoreboard. this week, Strath Haven kept its foot on the pedal. Leading 3-0 one hour into the game, the Panthers (13-3-1) struck three times in the next three minutes to make it a rout. Lizzie King and Nicole Raimo each scored twice. BONNER-PRENDERGAS­T 3, UPPER DARBY 0>> The Pandas got the better of their neighbors thanks to a goal and two assists from Erin Carty. Carty put Prendie in front 1-0, then helped Jewel Ford and Meghan Campbell find the back of the net. Alyssa Hahnaran made eight saves in defeat for the Royals. CONESTOGA 3, WEST CHESTER EAST 0 >> Rachel Dirico put the Pioneers on the board with a first-half free kick and they cruised from there. The win pushes Conestoga’s record to 13-0-4 with a difficult trip to Pennsbury on Friday left in the regular season. SUN VALLEY 5, INTERBORO 1 >> Five Vanguards found the back of the net. Devon Linn, Jordan Johnson, Nicole DeStefano and Sami Bowen all scored for Sun Valley (10-7-1). Mikayla Kennerly provided the consolatio­n for the Bucs in the second half.

In the Catholic League Quarterfin­als: LANSDALE CATHOLIC 4, CARDINAL O’HARA 0>> The Lions hung tough, only trailing by one at the break. Keeper Kerry Patterson had a lot to do with that. She made 18 saves in defeat. But the Crusaders proved to be too much to handle, specifical­ly Kate Hennessy. She scored all four goals to send the hosts to the semifinals.

In the Bicentenni­al League: THE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 4, FAITH CHRISTIAN 1 >> In their first season in the conference, the Crusaders clinched a Constituti­on Division Title. Hannah Sareyka scored two goals, while Oksana Specht and Lindsay Haseltine added one apiece. It was Haseltine’s 32nd goal in 15 games. TCA (11-2) secured the top seed for the District 1 A playoffs.

Boys Soccer

The Christian Academy’s 10th may have been its most dramatic.

Caleb Robinson converted a penalty kick in the first overtime period to help the Crusaders defeat Delco Christian 2-1. The marker ensured TCA (105-2) would reach double-digit victories and build its resume as District 1 seeding awaits. Grant Sareyka scored in the first half for the Crusaders before Daniel Nichols equalized for Delco Christian.
