Philip E. Beaston
Philip E. Beaston, age 86, died on Feb. 21, 2017 at Granite Farms Estates Retirement Life Community.
He was raised in Drexel Hill, he graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1948. He earned a BFA degree from the Philadelphia College Of Art.
He was employed by A&R Engineering Company, he retired as vice President after 39 years of service.
He served 12 years in the US Naval Reserve and in the summer he could be seen sailing his 1934 wooden sloop “Amica” in Great Egg Harbor, NJ
After retirement Phil studied water color painting at the Community Art Center in Wallingford where he exhibited his work, winning numerous awards. He was a former member of the Art League of Delaware Valley. Phil enjoyed painting “en plein air”.
Phil was known as a skilled craftsman, building scale models of trains, planes and ships. his hobbies included photography, bird watching and local history.
Phil and his family lived in Ridley Township for 52 years. He was active member of Holmes Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and chairman of the building committee.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Isobel (nee Helffrich), his daughter Beth BeastonBelsito (Linda Jo), Sondra Gingerich (Kenneth) and grand daughter Randi Gingerich
