Slow start dooms Cabrini’s ECAC stay in defeat

Cabrini could not overcome start in its ECAC opener against Wednesday night.

The host Mustangs held the Cavaliers to five points in each of the first two periods to cruise to a 57-46 victory.

Stevenson (18-9) advances to take on Misericord­ia, a 59-53 winner over Rutgers-Camden. That is the second game of a slow Stevenson a quarterfin­al quadruple-header at Carnegie-Mellon beginning at 11 a.m. Friday morning.

Nomi Washington scored 13 of 15 points in the second half and Myonie Williamson (Radnor All-Delco) added 11 of her 15 after the break as the Cavaliers outscored Stevenson, 36-28, but it was not enough for Cabrini to keep its season alive. BROOKLYN COLLEGE 81, NEUMANN 55 >> The Knights fell behind 42-26 at halftime and never recovered in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament. Brooklyn put 31 points on the board in the third period to seal the victory and set up a meeting with topseeded Carnegie-Mellon at 11 o’clock Friday morning.

AAiya Hayes paced Neumann (18-9) with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Nafisha Saunders (12 points) and Lauren Legler (11) also reached double figures for the Knights. WILLIAM & MARY 74, DREXEL 65 >> Jessica Pellechio scored 15 points, Sarah Curran (Archbishop Carroll All-Delco) added 13 and Bailey Greenberg had 10, but it wasn’t enough as the Dragons (20-7, 11-7 CAA) fell to the Tribe in their regular-season finale.
