Goalie Andress saves the day for Agnes Irwin

Despite building a sixgoal lead Tuesday, Agnes Irwin still needed goalie Hailey Andress to save the day.

Andress made 10 saves, including a denial of a free-position shot with 24 seconds to play as the Owls (3-0) eked out a win over nationally ranked Our Lady of Good Counsel of Maryland, 12-11.

Lila Barker scored five goals for Irwin, which led 12-6 with five minutes to play. But a pair of yellow cards and a feverish comeback by the Falcons cut the deficit to one in the final minute. Alex Hark added two goals and two assists, and Sydney Wolfington posted two goals and an assist.

In the Central League: GARNET VALLEY 17, PENNCREST 6 >> Madi O’Brien led a balanced scoring effort with four goals and two assists for the Jaguars.

Cam Faith (one assist) and Kamryn McNeal each posted hat tricks, and Regan Nealon supplied four assists to go with a goal. Riley Delaney and Madi McKee chipped in two goals apiece for the Jags.

Grace Harding (three goals) and Christina DiFelice (two goals) paced Penncrest. HAVERFORD 13, LOWER MERION5>> Laura Winters took care of business with five goals and four assists to pace the Fords. Reilly Morgan and Sydney Corcoran (one assist) tallied two goals each for Haverford.

Ashley Roberts scored three times for the Aces. STRATH HAVEN 13, RIDLEY 6 >> Maddie Ruffini scored four times, and Nicole McNeely (three goals, two assists) and Emily Raech (goal, three assists) enjoyed big days to lead the Panthers. Margot Hotham and Chloe Brennan scored twice each.

Haley Adam’s four led Ridley. HARRITON 15, MARPLE NEWTOWN 2 >> Kristen Rutecki scored both of the Tigers’ goals, and Christina O’Rangers stood tall in goal with 19 saves for Marple.

Boys Lacrosse

Jake D’Annunzio scored four times, and Denny Nealon added a hat trick as Garnet Valley topped Penncrest, 12-6, in Central League boys lacrosse action.

Evan Trizonis tallied twice, and Jacob Buttermore dished a pair of assists to go with his goal. Nealon and D’Annunzio each chipped in a helper.

The Lions’ Max Daugherty and TJ Sims each scored twice.

Also in the Central League: HAVERFORD 14, LOWER MERION3>> Cole Lukasiewic­z and Jack Daly paired two goals with two assists each, and John Shievert augmented his goal with three helpers as the Fords rolled.

Luke McCallion, Nick DiIorio and Alex McKendry pumped home two goals each as the Fords pulled away with an 11-0 edge in the middle two quarters. CONESTOGA 11, SPRINGFIEL­D 6>> Michael Tulskie scored three times, and Kyle Long dished three assists to go with a goal, but the Cougars fell short. James Spence made 10 saves in goal. Joe DeBernardi and Ben Garcia also scored for Springfiel­d. RADNOR 17, UPPER DARBY 1 >> Jackson Birtwhistl­e was in a giving mood with three assists and a goal as the Raiders led 9-0 after a quarter and never looked back.

Clayton Proctor, Liam McCall and Jack Dooley scored twice apiece, and Drew Brown and Alex Bernicker each paired a goal with two assists for the Raiders.

Baseball

It took a sixth-inning outburst for Haverford School to keep its Florida trip perfect.

Bryan Hyland’s RBI single tied the game, then Isaiah Winikur chased home two runs with a triple as the Fords rallied for a 6-4 win over Skyline (Colo.).

Hyland drove in two runs with two hits. Christian Quinn plated a pair of runs, and Tommy Toal collected three hits and two runs from the leadoff spot for Haverford (3-1).

Tommy Bagnell earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief, with Calvin Costner quickly getting the final out to notch the save.

In the Del Val League: CHICHESTER 16, CHESTER 0 >> Andrew Rodriguez doubled home two runs in the 11-run first inning and allowed just one hit in three innings to get the win for Chi in a game played on the turf at Maplezone Sports Institute.
