Jones and Salisbury lift Glen Mills over AP
The Glen Mills and Academy Park boys tennis teams battled to the bitter end Friday, with the No. 1 doubles pairing of Javier Jones and Matt Salisbury clinching a 3-2 Del Val League victory for the host Bulls.
Jones and Salisbury edged AP’s Mel Schoolfield and Sahmir Blackwell, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) in the top doubles match, which ended after the Bulls’ No. 2 duo of Travon Williams and Deontae Williams claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Glen Mills (2-3 overall and league) took one of the three singles matches as No. 2 Chris Stinson earned a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 decision over Abdoulai Gassoma. For the Knights, Kevin Tran won first singles and Phi Tang was triumphant at No. 3.

ben- efited from five errors by Niles North (Ill.) in erupting for a 16-1 victory in Florida.
Bryan Hyland doubled and drove in four runs. Logan Keller plated three with a triple, and Nick Holtz added two runs scored and two RBIs. Justin Meyer also tripled and scored twice.
Tyler Dunbar was the beneficiary with three hitless innings, allowing one unearned run and striking out three. Pat Toal finished the combined no hitter, which lasted just four innings.
Late T hursday, the Fords (5-3) dropped a 6-3 decision to Gresham (Ore.). Hyland, Keller and Toal each drove in a run, Keller via a triple and Hyland on a solo home run. Tommy Bagnell took the loss, and Zak Summy worked three solid innings of relief.
