Delco Catholic schools hall of fame adds four members
SPRINGFIELD >> Delaware County’s 22 Catholic elementary schools and three Catholic high schools, along with Neumann University, came together to celebrate Catholic education on April 5 at Springfield Country Club.
The Delaware County Advisory Council, along with the Foundation for Catholic Education, welcomed four members into the Delco Hall of Fame for their outstanding contributions to Catholic education.
The 2017 honorees are: Barbara Burke, a dedicated principal at St. James Regional Catholic School; Edward Heinemann, an inspiring middle school teacher from Holy Family Regional Catholic School; Donohue Family Funeral Homes, a family business in Delaware County who has served the Catholic community for over 100 yearsl and Fr. Joseph Corley, pastor at Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Darby.
This was the third gala held by the Delaware County Advisory Council and this year’s event drew over 390 people. In total, the Galas, plus the efforts of the Delaware County Advisory Council, have raised and distributed over $100,000.00 to Delaware County Catholic elementary schools in only three years.
The co-chairs of the advisory council are Michael Bradley and Fr. Kevin Gallagher. They are hosting an EITC/OSTC informational event on May 24 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Neumann University.
