County Community Day April 22
UPPER PROVIDENCE >> Delaware County Heroin Task Force holds its third annual Community Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Rose Tree Park, Route 252, Media. The free event celebrates prevention and recovery in the community and features family activities and entertainment. Come out for free food, music, arts and crafts and giveaways.
There is also a medication drop box where residents can dispose of expired or unwanted medicated for free and anonymously. The task force hopes to continue the trend of the 2016 Community Day, when over 65 pounds of medication was collected. The event also features “prevention games” to educate residents about prescription drug misuse and abuse.
Delaware County Council and District Attorney Jack Whelan present “The Prevention Partner” awards to recipients who have demonstrated strong leadership and made outstanding contributions to reduce drug misuse in Delaware County.

Shred paper, support environment
NETHER PROVIDENCE >> To celebrate Earth Day, state Rep. Leanne KruegerBraneky holds a free shredding event for constituents to safely dispose of confidential, unwanted documents from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 22, in the rear parking lot at Strath Haven High School. Attendees are asked to enter from Brookhaven Road.
Common types of unwanted items that should be shredded include credit card statements, credit card applications, bank statements, canceled checks, income tax information, insurance records and retirement or pension fund information.
There is a limit of no more than five bags or boxes; paper clips should be removed. Staples are OK. Paper is shredded on site and recycled. For information, call Krueger-Braneky’s office at 610-534-6880.
Radnor students raise project funds
RADNOR >> Radnor High School Student Council is seeking donations for a Courtyard Revitalization Project to promote outdoor learning and socializing, in conjunction with the Radnor Parent-Teacher-Student Association and Radnor Education Foundation. The student council hopes to renovate the school’s current courtyard into a safe and modernized space for all students to learn and socialize while appreciating nature.
The current courtyard, located adjacent to the cafeteria, is approximately 11,350 square feet. The area houses a dead tree, an aging greenhouse, and damaged furniture. The renovation plans address these issues, as well as recommend repurposing part of the existing greenhouse into a seating area with counters, benches and a charging station; the addition of an outdoor, WiFiequipped classroom space; and new furniture under the existing canopy and in other spaces where students could gather to socialize and eat lunch.
The plan is for renovations to begin over the summer with the goal of a new and improved courtyard to be unveiled in fall 2017. The public can contribute through the following activities:
• The Community Courtyard Dash 5K and Fun Run is set for Sunday, April 30, at Radnor High School. Cost is $25 for adults, $20 for students, in advance at www.runsignup.com/Race/ PA/Wayne/CommunityCourtyardDash and $30 for adults, $25 for students on race day. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m., the 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:15 a.m.
• Students can purchase donuts through the student government’s Krispy Kreme Donut Sale on Wednesday, April 26, at Radnor High School.
• Direct donations can be made by checks payable to “RHS Courtyard Renovation” and mailed to Radnor High School, c/o Alexis Bradley, 130 King of Prussia Road, Radnor PA 19087.

CONCORD >> Crozer-Keystone Sleep Centers offer a support group for those who have a suspected sleep disorder or have already been diagnosed. Hussein Kiliddar, M.D., Crozer-Keystone pulmonologist and sleep physician, leads a discussion at the next support group meeting on Thursday, April 27, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Community Room at CrozerKeystone at Brinton Lake, 300 Evergreen Drive, Glen Mills.
Join the support group to learn about how treatment can improve sleep and health, and gain an understanding of the latest treatment options as well as the new Inspire implantable device. New CPAP mask options and oral dental devices are on view at the meeting. Guests can create new friendships with others who have had a similar experience or have undergone treatment for a sleep disorder. Light refreshments are available. Walk-ins are welcome.
