William Thomas O’Doherty, Sr.

William Thomas O’Doherty, Sr., 90, formerly of Drexel Hill died April 17, 2017 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Hannah McIntyre O’Doherty and moved to his late residence five years ago.

Bill was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1944 and served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed by PECO as a Lineman for 45 years before retiring in 1989 and was a member of the St. James Alumni Associatio­n. Bill was a former member of St. Andrew R.C. Church and St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the McCall Country Club in Upper Darby. Bill enjoyed gardening and cards but most important was the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, his children, his grandchild­ren and his great grandchild­ren.

He was predecease­d by his uncle, James O’Doherty, who helped raise Bill; and his siblings, John O’Doherty, Hugh O’Doherty and Hannah Flynn Kelby

Survivors: loving husband of Mary Jane Luttrell O’Doherty; devoted father of Maureen A. O’Doherty, Christine M. O’DohertyZyl­a (John), William T. O’Doherty, Jr. (Margaret Mary), Thomas W. O’Doherty (Theresa) and Brian W. O’Doherty (Jacqueline); cherished grandfathe­r of Bill, Angela, Kate, Brian, Sarah, Julianne, Gregory, Brianna and Kelly; also, his great grandchild­ren, Paige, Maggie, Kaitlyn, Dominic, Justin, Anthony, Declan, Mave, Adin, Liam, Abigale and David

Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Andrew R.C. Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Visitation: 6:008:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078 and 9:4510:45 AM Friday at church. Burial: St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery
