Moran’s 4 RBIs keep Haverford perfect in Central

Lindsay Moran drove in four runs, Heather Lazer pitched two scoreless innings in relief of starter Gabrielle Gentile, and Haverford remained undefeated in Central League softball Tuesday with a 7-5 triumph over Upper Darby.

In the Catholic League: ARCHBISHOP WOOD 1, CARDINAL O’HARA 0 >> Marisa Browne threw a four-hit gem and knocked in the only run, which was unearned.

Jenna Smith, Maura Kane, Annemarie Banes and Julia Kush had one hit apiece for the Lions. Smith scattered six hits and fanned three. HALLAHAN 6, ARCHBISHOP CARROLL two and innings to Fords (5-1, 1 >> Sharon Hill resident Maddy McBride went the distance and struck out 11. She also belted a three-run homer. BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 21, BISHOP MCDEVITT 0 >> The Martin sisters came up big for the Pandas. Katlyn Martin slugged a grand slam and drove in five runs. Her sister Allison went 2-for-2. Kelsey Czibik and Gia DiGalbo knocked in two runs each for MBAP (6-2, 4-1).

In the Bicentenni­al League: CALVARY CHRISTIAN 9, CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 6 >> Grace Heron (two hits) and Marissa Mack drove in two runs each for the Crusaders. Dejah Burley-Chambers came up with a double.

In the Inter-Ac League: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 15, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 0 >> Belle Volatile belted two homers and drove in three runs to pace a 14-hit attack. Ariana Felizian also went deep while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Reilly Wright had two doubles and three RBIs in support of winning pitcher Grace Smith.

In Del Val League action: INTERBORO 8, CHICHESTER 0 >> Bridgette Bailey tossed a threehit shutout with 10 strikeouts as the Bucs (7-1, 5-0) topped the Eagles for the second time. Sam Bellano belted a two-run homer and drove in four runs to pace the offense.

In nonleague play: DELCO CHRISTIAN 15, LINCOLN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 2 >> Ronnie Folasco belted a leadoff homer and Dani Strafford whiffed nine to get the win.

Girls Track

Elicia Moore showed her versatilit­y as Penn Wood topped Interboro in the Del Val League, 112-28.

Moore won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, led off the winning 4 x 800 relay and ran the second leg of the successful 4 x 400 quartet. Terri Turner was a triple winner including the high jump, 1,600 and the 4 x 800 relay.

Boys Tennis

Steve Lin and Ricky Taing picked up a come-from-behind victory in the No. 2 doubles match but it was not enough as Upper Darby fell to Marple Newtown, 4-3, in the Central League.

David Li and Patrick Adams prevailed, 6-3, 7-5, at fourth double for the Tigers.

In HARRITON 7, HAVERFORD HIGH 0 >> Isaac Goldberg did not drop a game in the No. 1 singles match while Andrew Kossky and Jay Ramaswamy swept the first set in each of their singles matches in the Rams victory. RADNOR 7, SPRINGFIEL­D 0 >> The Raiders won all three singles matches and all four doubles matches in straight sets highlighte­d by Jonathan Davis’ 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 3 singles match.

In the Catholic League: CARDINAL O’HARA 5, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0 >> Andrew Shuda, Ryan Shields and Luke Savage cruised through the singles matches while the doubles tandems of Pat McCarry and Martin Meenan and Jason Haley and Kevin Lutz finished off a dominant match for the Lions.

In the Inter-Ac: HAVERFORD SCHOOL 6, PENN CHARTER 1 >> John Walsh only dropped two games in the No. 1 singles match then Connor Lees and Will McDevitt swept the No. 2 and 3 singles matches, respective­ly, to get the Fords off and running in a commanding other Central League action: victory.

In the Del-Val League: ACADEMY PARK 5, CHESTER 0 >> Kevin Tran won the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-1, Abdoulai Gassoma battled to a three-set victory in the No. 2 match, and Phi Tang finished off a solid No. 3 match winning 6-3, 6-1 for the Knights. CHICHESTER 5, PENN WOOD 0 >> After two decisive wins in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches, the doubles tandems of Ricky Van Newkirk and John Kpanka (6-0, 6-4) and Jeff Reed and Joseph Tholley (6-1, 6-3) closed out a complete team win for the Eagles.

In the Ches-Mont League: DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 7, SUN VALLEY 0 >> Hunter Hoffman and Shawn Burton provided a bright spot for the Vanguards, winning two games in the No. 2 doubles match, and Ishy Ahmad won a game in the No. 3 singles match.

Girls Golf

Kaitlyn Lees fired a careerlow 3-under par 32 at Philadelph­ia Country Club to lead Agnes Irwin to a 218-247 victory over Springside Chestnut Hill.
