‘Day of Resistance’ set for today in Sleighton Park
As part of their continuing efforts in opposition to Mariner East 2, Middletown Coalition for Community Safety, Protect Penn Delco, Uwchlan Safety Coalition, True River Sangha and Yoga on the Line are hosting a Community Day of Resistance Saturday morning in Sleighton Park, Valley and Forge roads, Middletown.
The event, beginning at 10 a.m., will include a free outdoor yoga class suitable for all ages and levels and sitting meditation in the trees starting at 10:15 a.m. Participants are invited to view the #WaterIsLife prayer flag display made by children and other members of the community and make their own #CommunityProtector prayer flags and signs.
A community proclamation about the current water/pipeline crisis will be read at 11 a.m., followed by a short march and peaceful action. The morning will also include a drumming circle and free refreshments.
Attendees should bring a yoga mat, blanket or towel, water bottle, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, although most of the event will take place in the shade or under a canopy.
“This is a non-denominational, family friendly, peaceful resistance event,” note the groups’ Facebook pages. “Let’s demonstrate peaceful and mindful resistance to the destructive and mindless Mariner East 2 pipeline project that is threatening our communities and our water.”
