Hear jazz sextet in downtown Chester Friday
CHESTER » Chester Arts Alive! presents Keepers of the Flame in concert at 8 p.m. Friday at the Andre Café Acoustique, Fifth Street and Edgmont Avenue. The jazz sextet, formerly known as Infinity, features Farid Majeed on trumpet; Larry Williams, tenor sax; Dr. Carlton L. Cannon, Jr., saxophones, clarinet, flute; Ed Dawley, bass; Dennis Fortune, piano; and Michael F. Carty, drums.
Keepers of the Flame live up to their name with a bop and hard bop style and a repertoire that revives long-forgotten compositions from Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley and more. The group’s collective style covers jazz history from swing to bop to hard bop to blues and funk. Several members of the group double as composers.

Two days of bridge at Schoolhouse Center
RIDLEY TOWNSHIP » Senior Community Services’ Schoolhouse Center, 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom, holds two bridge parties during August, 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10. Participants practice in the first week and play in the second. The center invites everyone to join in the fun with finger sandwiches, tea and great camaraderie. For those who bridge skills are rusty, the center’s instructor E.B. (Buck) Clark is on hand to answer questions.

Senior art exhibit opens Monday
MIDDLETOWN » The Residence at Glen Riddle, 263 Glen Riddle Road, Media, holds an opening reception 4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, for its “Natural Beauty Through the Eyes of Seniors” photography exhibit. Come out for wine and cheese and the unveiling of nature photos from various scenic landmarks in and around Delaware County taken by residents of The Residence at Glen Riddle.

Magic, ice cream and camp at Grange
HAVERFORD » The Friends of the Grange hosts its annual “Magic Show and Ice Cream Treat” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, at the St. James United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 135 Myrtle Ave., Havertown. The unique “Balloon Artistry and Magic” of George Gallo entertains young and old alike.
Admission is $6. Seating is limited and no tickets are sold at the door. Register by July 28. Spaces are filling up for the Summer Nature Camp sponsored by Friends of the Grange, Inc. and the Colonial Plantation of Pennsylvania of Ridley Creek State Park. The the remaining one-week sessions is held the week of July 31, are at the Barnett Environmental Center in the Carriage House at the Historic Grange Estate.
The theme for the July 31, 9:30 a.m.-noon session, for children 4 to 6, is “A Pirate’s Life for Me;” the theme for the 1-3:30 p.m. session, for children 6 to 10, is “Black Flags.” The unique teaching skills of the CPP staff will make each five-day session educationally fun.
