Richard Joseph Keegan, Age 90. Retired CSX Railroad Supervisor, Carman/ Mechanical Inspector, Union Leader, a resident of Sharon Hill, PA for 62 years, died July 25, 2017 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospice Unit in Darby, PA.

Born in South Philadelph­ia, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary E. Minchof Keegan.

Richard attended St. Richard’s Catholic Grammar school, graduated from Southeast Catholic High School, and attended St. Joseph’s College.

Mr. Keegan retired from the CSX railroad (formerly the B&O and C&O railroads) in 1989 after 38 years of service as a Carman Mechanical Inspector and later as a Supervisor.

He was very active in his Union Lodge Local 6781, “Brotherhoo­d Railway Carmen of America”, holding several offices throughout his career, including Local Chairman.

Richard was a member of Holy Spirit Parish Church in Sharon Hill, and then St. George’s Parish Church in Glenolden. He was also a member of the Southeast Catholic Alumni Associatio­n. Richard was an avid Eagles fan and enjoyed all sports.

Richard is predecease­d by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ethel M. Ward Keegan, devoted father to two sons, Richard J. Keegan, Jr. (Linda) of Delran, NJ and Thomas E. Keegan (Carol) of Glenolden, PA, and three daughters, Ethel M. Bell of Lima, PA, the late Nancy J. Montgomery, and Mary E. Keegan of West Chester, PA. Also, 10 grandchild­ren, 10 great grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday from 9:0010:30am at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. George Parish Church, 22 E. Cooke Ave., Glenolden, PA. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Baily Rd, Yeadon, PA.
